Three loopholes in the Hong Kong government anti-epidemic measures;
Disservice by Carrie Lam (Hong Kong Chief Executive); Outbreak of an epidemic

1. Permit the exemption of specific groups of people from compulsory quarantine arrangement

Between Feb – May 2020, more than 200 thousand people on arrival have had an exemption of mandatory quarantine.
Exemption of 32 type of groups from compulsory quarantine arrangement including cross-border students, businessman, government officer, national security personnel, military, cross-border services

2. Unknown source of an epidemic; Loosen group gathering regulation

The outbreak happened in Lek Yuen Estate in June, but the government didn't trace the source.
Withdraw limitation in restaurants, wedding banquet, etc.
Overcrowded indoor is the threat of transmission.
This current outbreak was just two weeks after relaxing group gathering restriction.

3. Insufficient testing per day

The Hong Kong government conducted 3600 tests per day on average in June. Had a massive test for high-risk groups (staffs in a residential care home).
But, Dr. Yuen Kwok-yung suggested having 7500 tests per day, including those patients with mild symptoms.
Government anti-epidemic measurements are perfunctory. Let asymptomatic patients spreading the virus freely in the community.
In the end, civilians bear consequences. A heinous crime!

90% of popular vote by Japanese netizens against Chinese tourists visiting

(27 Jul) On 22 July, the Japanese government announced that it would begin negotiations with 12 countries, including Taiwan, on measures to ease restrictions on business travel. A Japanese netizen recently tweeted, "I would like to ask everyone a question: after the pandemic ends, which nation's visitors would you least wish to visit Japan?" The options included the USA, Taiwan, China, and Other (countries). In the end, 21048 people voted. 89.5% of Japanese netizens chose China.

This response greatly upset Chinese netizens, who retorted, "You don't want us to come but you want to take our money?"

Taiwanese netizens laughed and said, "The Japanese understand that Taiwan and China are separate", "How have I not seen any Chinese netizens saying that Taiwan is not a country lol" and "What a surprise, looks like we're different from China XD".

Knowing what the Hong Kong vetting officer said, I am worried for those who casted an "objection'" vote or "abstention" vote on the enactment of the National Security Law in Hong Kong during the National People’s Congress.

Image Content:
Opposing the National Security Law, and opposing Hong Kong on discharging its constitutional duty to safeguard national security, means the person objectively cannot have the intention to uphold the Basic Law.

Mandatory DNA test for all staff in Hong Kong Restaurant Taste of Asia?

#FellowsSubmission

(14 Aug) Taste of Asia requested all of its staff to do a mandatory DNA test. Theoretically, a "voluntary" consent form has to be signed in order for the test to be conducted, so a company cannot force employees to do the test. However, the assistant manager said if employees refuse to sign the form or verbally refuse to do the test, they would be banned from going to work.

What would happen to the pay of full-time workers? No one knows. My friend works part-time as a full-time job, so if he can’t go to work, it’s the same as being fired.

Editor’s note: LIHKG thread update on 15 Aug – The store manager said the DNA tests are voluntary. Close file. It’s intriguing that the answer given by store Manager and assistant manager were completely opposite.

Discovery in Fairwood: HIKVISION thermal camera

What is HIKVISION?

//“The Courier” reported HIKVISION manufactures surveillance facilities used by the CCP in suppressing Tibetan and Uyghur populations and installed in detention camps in Xinjiang. Their products have already been banned from sale in the US.//
(Fairwood wanna make people happy?)

//“The Mercury”, which is owned by a Media tycoon of Rupert Murdoch and the editorial department is in Hobart, reported on 15 August with the heading of “Concern over Chinese ‘spy’ cameras near parliament”.

In the report, O’Connor, leader of United Tasmania Group and councillor of House of Assembly, stated that HIKVISION communication products not only have a security concern but also the company has deliberately created loopholes.”//
(For just to dine, do I have to have my data sent to the neighboring country?)

//HIKVISON SSD is in crisis lately. A famous KOL in China alleged NAND Flash chips in its high-end SSD model, “C200, has been changed to inferior parts. In another model of consumer-grade, “C160 SSD”, it was used-NAND collected from a Western Digital (WD) drive. Many chinese users have made videos on this debacle. So, its image in mainland China has been blemished.

It’s not the first time for HIKVISION to have an integrity issue. Customers have complained about suspicious false advertisement of HIKVISION C2000 SSD. The promotion material mentioned Toshiba Memory Chips, but Micron Chips was used in products. After videos circulate on the internet, HIKVISION removed its products and amended product information rapidly. All wordings of “Toshiba Chips” have been completed removed and replaced by “3D TLC.//

This is too scary, the era of big data, I...

This is too scary, the era of big data, I...

Editor’s note: From the internet censorship to facial recognition and more recently, the health code, China has been establishing policies to control the human behaviour of Chinese people. However, cannot hold the fire, it is possible that Chinese people ,like the one who posted the above concern to the internet, are going to have more doubts about the Chinese apps, the monitoring and the Chinese government.

(16 Aug) This could be the most horrifying photo I have seen recently!

I have heard people say that Taobao may monitor the keyboard, search history and even sound [from microphone] for big data analysis and goods recommendation. I was doubtful about this and thought that maybe it is possible, but not to that god-like extend...

But the fact has exceeded my imagination!

The 25kg skimmed formula powder... My god... Even without asking we know that this is not any common product...

Yesterday I bought a chair and the seller packed the chair with this bag [of the 25kg formula powder]. With no verbal description, no taking of photos, no word-typing, under zero actions [regarding the packaging], today my Taobao homepage recommended me product in the same packaging!

I then recalled the memory. Yesterday, the only action related to Taobao was when I was installing the chair, I opened up Taobao and bought other goods on the website. Does that mean that when I opened up the Taobao page, my camera was working? Was it scanning the image beside me?!

(12 Sep) I was told by a shrimp trawling fishermen that it was the Chinese national security officials who crossed the border to abduct 12 Hongkongers in Hong Kong waters on that day, so no Hong Kong lawyers were allowed to visit them. I dare the Chinese Communist Party to reveal the exact time and coordinates they abducted the 12 Hongkongers, somebody filmed the location where they were abducted.
Cross-border hostage-taking, denial of access to prisoners, and the fear of her lies being exposed, Carrie Lam has violated her oath of office to protect the lives and property of Hongkongers.

Editor’s note: There is still no evident supporting that fishermen’s claim. More about Kwok Cheuk-kin.
