Tonight at 8pm HK time (GMT+8), support Hong Kong through social media! Post a selfie on social media with your right eye covered. You can wear a mask, symbolizing HKers’ fear for doxing and prosecution. Tag at least 4 friends, and use the following:
#eye4HK
#NoPoliceBrutality
#FreeFromFear
#StandwithHK

Context: A young first-aider has been blinded in her right eye by a police rubber bullet at the HK 811 protest. Police brutality has become a routine and HKGov refuses to set up an independent commission of inquiry for the saga.

Universal values: freedom, justice and rule of law are now at stake. “The [extradition] bill is dead”, said Chief Executive Carrie Lam, and the city is dying too.
<Eye for HongKong Campaign> - A call for actions #1
“The bill is dead”, following the non-legal binding announcement made by HK Chief Executive Carrie Lam on the extradition bill, the city is dying too. HKSAR Government refuses to officially withdraw the bill nor set up an independent commission of inquiry to look into the saga. In response to the voices of people, HK police collude with triads to beat citizens indiscriminately (both peaceful protestors and non-protestors). A young girl, who volunteered herself to be a first-aider in a peaceful protest on 11 Aug 2019, was shot in the right eye by the police causing permanent vision loss. The authority is creating violence every day and using brutality to rule the city.

The universal values that everyone on Earth embraces: freedom, justice, rule of law... are at stake now in Hong Kong. Our eyes can be taken, but truth can’t be. To show your support to Hong Kong, please join the “Eye for HongKong Campaign”:

1. Take a selfie with your right eye covered. Consider wearing a mask, which symbolizes Hong Kong people’s fear of expression, if you wish
2. Upload the photo to Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Reddit
3. Tag at least 4 of your friends to take part in this challenge

Kim Eui-Sung reposts open letter from ex-employees, comments, “Shame on you (TVB)!”

On 23 August, #TVB suddenly fired 20 employees on the grounds of business restructuring and streamlining, causing city-wide concerns. An alleged ex-employee subsequently posted on LIHKG late on Sunday (25/8) night, claiming that the dismissed employees were possibly fired because of their support for the Anti-Extradition protests, their participation in protests or rallies, or because they expressed their opinions through the Lennon Wall. They were not informed by their department heads of their dismissal, but instead received the notice directly from HR, which was different from the normal process and hence appears to be an attempt by the company to impose white terror. The ex-employee also mentioned that the firing of the 20 employees is just the beginning, and they believe that TVB will continue to target employees with opposing political stances, and concluded that “CCTVB is a company full of CCTVs (surveillance systems).”

This morning Korean actor Kim Eui-Sung posted a few screenshots on his personal Instagram page, which appeared to be messages from recently dismissed TVB employees, where they voiced their concerns about TVB’s groundless dismissal. Kim posted the screenshots to spread awareness on the issue, and commented, “Shame on you (TVB)!”

Global Support For Hong Kong [3/5]

Over the past few days, South Korean Actor Kim Eui-Sung has been speaking up for the people of Hong Kong. Yesterday (Sept 20), he shared on his Facebook page the “721 Yuen Long Nightmare” documentary produced by RTHK Hong Kong Connection with Korean subtitles, hoping to help more Korean people learn about the situation in Hong Kong and spread the news further on the internet. Today, Kim has started to collect photos from netizens with one of their eyes covered, to support the “#Eye4HK
Campaign”. Through this campaign, Kim wants to let Hongkongers know that they are not alone in the anti-extradition bill fight. He also challenges the Chinese government, saying that they should demonstrate a proper attitude being as a big nation instead of creating an unfortunate future for Hong Kong.

12 August 2019: Airport Sit-in

Civilians continued going to the Hong Kong International Airport to support the strike action of the aviation sector and explain Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement to visitors.

On the last day of the 3-day sit-in, all flights in the afternoon had been canceled. According to the airport’s website, almost 150 departures and more than two dozen arrivals were affected.

Many civilians condemned the police for the excessive force imposed on demonstrations over the weekend. Many also covered their eye to show support for the female first aider who was shot by the police in the eye.

Pro-Beijing media claim first aider shot by police in the eye in Hong Kong protests is “completely healthy”; HK Police refuses to comment

Recently, multiple pro-Beijing media published an "update" on the female first aider who was shot by the Hong Kong police in the eye during the 2019 Anti-ELAB movement.

The horrific injury inflicted by the police on the woman had fueled public anger and sparked a round of #Eye4HK protests in 2019.

However, pro-China media claimed that she was “completely healthy with no eye injury”. Their reports also alleged that she had left Hong Kong in 2020 and that the Hong Kong police is now investigating whether the first aider participated in rioting.

On May 25, 2021, Stand News sent an media inquiry to the police regarding the progress of the said investigation. These questions include the exact happening during the clash; information on the officer who shot the girl; verification of the shot being the direct caused of the girl's eye injury; the police's knowledge of the whereabouts of the girl; and confirmation of the police's request of the girl to take part in their investigation.

The only response from the police is that they "declined to comment on particular media reports."
