Several people spoke on stage explaining the cause of the rally and their contacts with MPs in the UK. There are people who have already camped outside the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong for a month.

Towards the end of the rally, civilians in the UK said via long distance call that they had contacts with those who had escaped from Hong Kong to Canada, US, UK etc., appealing to the rest of the world to pay attention to human rights and the freedom of the present and the future generations.

Hong Kong Citizen Went Missing After Crossing the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge

Zhuhai Public Security Bureau announced earlier this month that it would set up a security checkpoint in the eastern artificial island of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge (HZMB) to inspect people and vehicles visiting Macau and Zhuhai from Hong Kong.

According to I-Cable News, a man reported that his father went to Macau by the HZMB but was detained by mainland security. He left a voice message before losing contact. The man said "My dad told my mum by Whatsapp that there were a lot of public security here. It felt like war; many people and vehicles were asked to queue up for security check. In the last voice message, he said he was arrested."

The man went to the Macau Public Security Police Force to enquire about the incident. He said that the police were shocked when he made the report. They could not find the immigration record of his father; hence they were unable to file a case. The man had no choice but to report the case to the Hong Kong Police. There were also reports saying that the staff of HZMB Shuttle Bus reminded their passengers that the mainland security would inspect the bus.

Legislator James To Kun-sun said the temporary inspection by Chinese officials is unreasonable. He pointed out that even though the section of the bridge belonged to China, passengers heading to Macau, who have not left the bus should not be inspected by the Mainland officials.

According to a notice by the Zhuhai Police Burea dated on 9th Dec, they said that in order to maintain the transport order of the HZMB and create a pleasant social environment for the Macau SAR's 20th Anniversary, they will set up security checkpoint in the eastern artificial island of the HZMB from 10th to 22nd December. Inspections will be carried out on the vehicles and people visiting Macau and Zhuhai from Hong Kong. It reminds people should strictly follow the law of PRC and actively cooperate with the public security for the security check.

Australian Minister Urges People to buy local,
McDonald’s and Domino’s Use of Local Ingredients against China’s Trade War

As the Australia-China trade dispute is getting worse, an Australian minister said that the public could help local farmers by buying local ingredients and praised fast-food chains, such as McDonald’s and Domino’s Pizza, for displaying country of origin information on their websites and food packages. It allows consumers to understand how many ingredients are from Australia so that the public could support local products.

Australian Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said to the audience in a radio interview, “You have the power. We’ve given it to you.” He praised that displaying country of origin information could help customers purchase food made from local ingredients. “McDonald’s and Domino’s have joined the campaign. Once you enter the shop, they will disclose how much of their food are actually from Australia.”

Australia and China have started a trade war, in which China has imposed restrictions on Australian exports like beef, sugar, wine and barley. The trade war has hit Australian agricultural industries.

According to insider’s news, LAM was scheduled to have meetings with Beijing Leader from 10th to 14th December, 2020 the itinerary was firstly to go Shenzhen on 10th for COVID-19 Test, following her flight to Beijing on 11th. However, LAM was informed of cancellation the trip, ending up to publicly announce the acquisition of vaccine on 11th.

Sing Tao explained there were 3 possible reason of postpone: One of it is “the leader was too busy while the schedule had not been well-arranged”; second is “Nothing to discuss in the meeting as HK epidemic situation persisted”; the last one is “The risk of being infected is higher in HongKong then Mainland, better to postpone for unnecessary meeting”.

South China Morning Post (SCMP) stated from an insider source that LAM trip for duty report is in fact postponed by epidemic in HongKong. Another insider stated that the new scheduled date has not yet been confirmed, so LAM would have to attend coming Tue (15th) executive meeting as usual.

In Nov 2020, LAM had flighted to Beijing and met with HAN Zheng, the Leader of Central Leading Group on Hong Kong and Macau Affairs, and many other senior officials, to discuss numerous economic policies about Hong Kong. When LAM came back to Hong Kong, She published the Policy Address in late Nov 2020.

CCP fully recognised LAM in the duty reporting last year

Last December, 2019, in the duty reporting trip, LAM was received by LI Keqiang and XI Jinping as usual, respectively the Premier of the State Council of People Republic of China (PRC) and Chairman of PRC. At that time XI stated that the year of 2019 was “the most difficult situation since Hong Kong returning to her mother country”, he described LAM “did lost of arduous work” for defending the bottom line of “One Country Two System”, addressing the policy by Law and dedicating. XI also pointed out that LAM effectively leaded HKSAR Government to proactively respond to the society, and said to her that “The Central Government fully recognises her courage and responsibility showing, especially during the critical period in Hong Kong”.

While LI stated that Anti extradition bill movement persisted, Hong Kong had not yet came out from the difficult position, he hope that HKSAR Government would continuously strive for “stopping the violence and mess” by Law, resuming the order, and grasping the time to research deep diving ridiculous problems happened through the social and economic development in Hong Kong; with a view to protecting Hong Kong for long term stable and prosperity. Regarding the social welfare, LI stated that LAM had rolled out a series of financial aids measures, which was “not easy to challenge the difficulty”, the Central Government was “very satisfied” with her (LAM) and HKSAR Government’s effort.

China formalises cut to Australian coal imports, state media reports

The Chinese state reported that China has formalised import restrictions targeting Australia’s $14bn coal exports and China would prioritise imports from Mongolia, Indonesia and Russia. Also, power companies will share inventory to ensure prices do not exceed 640 yuan ($97.8) per ton.
The National Development and Reform Commission met 10 major power companies on the weekend and granted approval for them to import coal without clearance restrictions, except for Australia.

Due to China’s import restrictions, at least 60 bulk carriers holding hundreds of millions tonnes of Australian coal stranded off the Chinese coast.

ICC rejects Uighur genocide complaint against China

International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutors have rejected calls by exiled Uighurs to investigate China for alleged genocide and crimes against humanity, the chief prosecutor's office said in a report on Dec 14 2020.

The Uighurs handed a huge dossier of evidence to the court in July 2020 accusing China of locking more than one million Uighurs and other mostly Muslim minorities in re-education camps and of forcibly sterilising women. But, the office of prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said it was unable to act because the alleged acts happened on the territory of China, which is not a signatory to The Hague-based ICC.

The findings showed a record low of 38.6% who recognize themselves as “HongKonger”, which was the lowest point since June 2017.
