Chief Ambulanceman:
Ambulance Was Obstructed Twice and Spent 20 Minutes to Arrive

On the 10th day of the Coroner Inquest of 22-year-old pro-democracy student Alex Chow Tsz-lok, the chief ambulanceman testified in court.

He said the ambulance was obstructed twice by vehivles including bus and private car. The ambulancemen walked over 100m to arrive at the carpark where Chow was injured.

When sending Chow to the hospital, there were "obstacles" in Tong Ming Street and the ambulance had to drive in opposite lane. Nevertheless, he said the route to the hospital was "shortened".

Ambulanceman Testifies: Could have Reached
#AlexChow Earlier if Not for Police Action Nearby

The inquest into the death of Alex Chow Tsz Lok for the 19th day on Dec 16, 2020. The Coroner's court summoned Ambulanceman Cheng Kwun-ming, who has already testified in court previously.

The court played back the security camera footage, which showed the ambulance numbered A344, transporting Cheng's team, had been parked for nearly 8 minutes before the team began making their way to the injured Chow.

Cheng explained that the time was spent on tasks including communicating with their superiors, assessing the accident site, donning gas masks, and gathering equipment.

When asked if the ambulancemen could have spent less time gearing up, Cheng emphatically stated, "every part of the procedure was necessary."

At the end of the questioning session, Cheng added his own observations, emphasizing that they could have reached Chow earlier, had vehicles not been blocking the way of their ambulance. Also, he received reports that police was advancing towards the area; if he was able to ascertain that there were no clashes at the accident site, then they would not have needed to put on gas masks, allowing them to reach the gravely injured Chow much earlier.
