Hong Kong Police: We are Capable of Judging Citizens Who Celebrate and Those Who "Cause Trouble" on Christmas' Eve

While Christmas' Eve is usually a festive occasion in Hong Kong where citizens fill the street, the police was asked whether they would charge citizens who go out with unlawful assembly. Police responded by claiming that they know how to
judge citizens who celebrate Christmas and those who "cause trouble".

Editor's note:
The Hong Kong police for many times evade giving concrete answers to questions by simply asking the public to believe in their 'judgement' without question. Here, one should not forget how the police explained their shooting of two unarmed students with live bullets and without prior warning in the morning of November 11, 2019 in Sai Wan Ho.

According to the police, the three gunshots "took place within split second" and that is why no warning was issued.

“Build a Tree with You” - Neighbours Wishing our Brothers & Sisters Safe

As Christmas is approaching, some citizens organised a "tree-building" activity outside Hang Fa Chun MTR station. Citizens wrote their wishes on Post-it notes and posted them on a banner with slogans, forming the shape of a tree.

The organiser prepared Christmas cards and Post-its for neighbours to write their well wishes. They also provided papers with origami instructions on how to fold Christmas trees, Santa Claus and the Lin pig. Many passers-by wrote their Christmas wishes on the Post-its, including words to encourage Hong Kong people to stay strong, and "we shall meet at the bottom of the pot". Also, some people wished for the safe return of those who have been arrested and detained, while others encouraged the arrestees to "endure till the end".

Parents also showed up with their children to participate in the event, with some wearing face masks. It was a peaceful scene with no riot police in sight.
