Magistrate in Hong Kong Sentence Baker to 9 months in jail for possessing a rolling pin and hex keys

A baker was stopped and searched by the police in Tai Po on 11 Nov 2019. A 14-inch wooden pin and a bag of hex keys were found. He pled not guilty for "possessing illegal tools for illegal intentions".

Principle magistrate So Man-lung claimed that it was “an obvious judicial notice” that "the bat can be used to break car windows and traffic lights while the hex keys can be used to dissemble fences".

The defendant stated that the bat was used to make Swiss rolls while the hex keys were used to open machines in his shop for cleaning. On 11 Nov 2019 , he planned to take the tools back to his shop on his way to dine with his friends. He was sentenced to 9 months in jail, and was granted bail pending appeal.
