"Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Times" sculpture unveiled in the United States

A group of Hongkongers in US unveiled the "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Times" sculpture during an opening ceremony in the Liberty Sculpture Park in Los Angeles on August 29. Lennon walls were erected and the protest song "Glory to Hong Kong" was played at the ceremony to commemorate the anti-ELAB movement.

Weighing more than 70 tons, the sculpture completed today was the latest work of Chen Weiming, who also created a large-scale relief representation of the Tiananmen Massacre and Goddess of Democracy replica.

Chen said in the ceremony that last year, Hong Kong people shedded blood to mark democracy and freedom on the land of Hong Kong. He wanted to show his support by creating this sculpture and installing it on a land of freedom.

Hong Kong Pro-democracy Protesters Appear in Mural in
#LosAngeles; #HongKongArtist: Idea is bulletproof

Black-clad pro-democracy protestors holding their yellow umbrellas against tear gas grenades and other rounds: The typical protest scene in Hong Kong during 2019 was recreated on a mural in Los Angeles in the United States.

The mural was located in Liberty Sculpture Park in Yermo, a desert town near the Los Angeles county. The project had been planned for 1.5 years, and was in production for nearly a month, before the mural was finally finished on April 10, 2021.

The project was organized by a New York based Hongkongers' organization "#LionRockCafe", and executed by #DamienMitcheel, a New York-based Australian artist.

The mural was named "Come What May". In addition to visualizing the protest scene, the pro-democracy slogan "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times" was written on the two sides.

The designer of the mural, a Hong Kong artist called Divad, chose not to disclose his identity. He shared his idea behind his work through "The Lion Rock Cafe": "Beneath the umbrellas, there is an idea, and the idea is bulletproof."

Hongkongers in #LosAngeles Pay Tribute to #YellowRaincoatMan

On June 15, 2021, over 30 Hongkongers held a memorial for "Yellow Raincoat Man" in Los Angeles.

"Yellow Raincoat man" was a name given to #MarcoLeung, a 35-year-old man who fell to his death to call on fellow Hongkongers to resist the tyrannical regime in 2019.

Leung has been regarded as the first #martyr of the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong.
