#Drama Award: "Imagination brings us hope. Hope can bring real change"

At the 29th Hong Kong Drama Award, "35th of May", a play about 1989 Tiananmen massacre, took five awards. Lit Ming-Wai, the producer, accepted the award in tears, "we are scared. But even though it feels like a knife is hanging right above our head, we are not surrendering. I believe many drama workers will continue to work hard to strive for the freedom in creation. This work is dedicated to all the parents and children."

"35th of May" is a story about the parents who lost their children to the Tiananmen massacre on June 4, 1989. It took five awards, including best director, best script, best lighting design and the most outstanding production of the year.

Candace Chong Mui-Ngam, while accepting the best script award, said "we are in a time of turmoil. No matter how helpless and perplexed we are amidst the darkness, we must persist with our imagination. Imagination brings us hope. Hope can bring real change."

Former Police Report Host Resigns: “Do I have to support them even when they are wrong?”

Ruby Leung grew up watching Hong Kong police drama which often portrayed the police as heroic and righteous. So, it was natural that she would join the police force after graduating from university. Her work experience as a police officer ranged from patrolling to duties at the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau and the Special Duties Team. She even hosted the show Police Report (on #RTHK) which has been cancelled recently. However, she always found it difficult to accept the culture in the police force where dissenting voices are not well tolerated.
