Wuhan’s Huoshenshan Hospital turned over to PLA, stationed with 1,400 soldiers

(2 Feb) The delivery ceremony of the Huoshenshan Hospital, literally “Fire God Hill Hospital”, which was built in an emergency, was held this morning. Zhou Xianwang, the mayor of Wuhan, and Bai Zhongbing, deputy commander of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Joint Logistics Support Force, signed and exchanged documents, indicating that the PLA had formally taken charge of the hospital and sent it into full operation immediately. President Xi Jingping, who is also the chairman of the Central Military Commission, has authorised to mobilize 1,400 medics from the PLA to provide treatments at the hospital, which specializes in pneumonia infections by the novel coronavirus. The hospital has 1,000 beds and several units, such as intensive care unit, progressive care unit, general ward, infection control and radiology. The medics come from different medical fields, and many of them have experiences in dealing with SARS at Beijing’s Xiaotangshan Hospital and with the Ebola epidemic.

Jerry-built construction: Video shows interior of new Wuhan hospital badly leaking water

(Editor's Note: If the leakage is real, it would be devastating for those staying inside as #Wuhan will be snowing tomorrow. It will lead to more leakage and a drastic drop of temperature inside. The delivery of resources will become more difficult.)

Communist China claimed to have completed the city's Huoshenshan Hospital, built to care for 1,000 of the city's residents infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The rapid construction of the hospital was widely trumpeted by Chinese state-run mouthpieces.

However, on Saturday (Feb. 15), the dissident group Inty-media uploaded a video on Telegram and Twitter submitted by a Chinese user, allegedly taken from inside the vaunted #Huoshenshan Hospital. In the video, a large puddle of water can be seen in the hallway, with water dripping from the ceiling. Almost comically, just one yellow bucket can be seen capturing the steady indoor downpour, while little thought seems to be given to live electrical wires.

(16 Feb) The Chinese government has confirmed two construction workers who worked at the Huoshenshan Hospital have been diagnosed with coronavirus. "Caixin.com" reported that while the cause of infection was still uncleared, it was reported that many workers at that time had fever and cough. Some foremen said that the sanitation situation at the construction site was very poor, as workers would urinate and defecate everywhere. Coupled with the deterioration in the quality of the masks they were given, they were expected to be infected.

Suspect that Xi Jinping visit was fake

(10 Mar) CCTV reported Xi Jinping visited Huoshenshan hospital and expressed his concern to medical personal and patients this morning. It was the first time after the outbreak of Wuhan pneumonia. The video provided by CCTV lasted 36 seconds. We couldn’t see Xi Jinping in the scene of the aeroplane, but he only showed up at the airplane's wing and runway. Then, the video clip connected to the scene that Xi Jinping had a video conference with patients and medical personnel in the Huoshenshan hospital. He was giving instructions to military and people were wearing white gown outside of the hospital.

Huoshenshan hospital completed in 8 days and could provide 1000 hospital beds. The cubical apartment is wood and primitive. However, Huoshenshan hospital in the CCTV exclusive video looked sturdy and like a building constructed by masonries. The floor was covered by carpet. The layout and design were utterly different from that of Huoshenshan hospital.

Jiang Senzhe, youtube, did an analysis in different grids and pointed out flaws. According to photos released by state media about Xi Jinping visiting the community, people at the side all wore “black mask”, and all of them were young and strong men. They didn’t look like the people in the community. Original residents needed to stay at home, and the police were at their balcony for surveillance*. Xi Jinping talked to the owner of a butcher shop, and it showed food supply was regular.

The slogan in red looked like the backdrop of one of the CCP member forum, “Service centre of CCP for Donghu Xincheng District”. The promotion backdrop was too new. In the epidemic, all members of CCP were wearing in causal and listening to the instruction of Xi Jinping. It didn’t match the situation at the protection level of disaster in Wuhan.**

Notes:
*On the 5 March when Vice-Premier of the State Council visited Wuhan, loud voices were shouted residential buildings. This was probably a measure to prevent such “embarrassing” situation from happening again.
**Some netizens also suggested that there were two suns in the sky on that day, as one of the photos presented by CCTV showing people’s shadow pointing at 2 different directions.

Carrie Lam Insists On Using CCP Terminology

China sent a mobile cabin hospital support team to Hong Kong, which repeatedly insisted the set-up of a Hong Kong mobile cabin hospital. However, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) representatives including Chuang Shuk-kwan and Lau Ka-hin denied the statement.

Hong Kong Hospital Authority director Deacon Yeung stated in an interview that the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) will not become a mobile cabin hospital or what China said a "Huoshenshan hospital". Instead, it will just be treated as an isolation facility. Yet, Chief Executive Carrie Lam continued to call it “mobile cabin hospital” and “Huoshenshan”, following the Chinese Communist Party government's terminology, in a press conference.

Yeung said that the HA is prepared for the third outbreak in March. The most serious patients will be treated in hospitals, while less serious patient will be treated in isolation facilities. Beds in these isolation facilities can be arranged in a flexible manner to suit the needs of the public. Yuen mentioned that only 20% of patients must be admitted to hospitals, and the rest can be treated in isolation facilities.
