1910 | Pacific Place, #Admiralty
The police repeatedly ordered crowds gathering outside the exit of Pacific Place for Leung's memorial to immediately leave the scene, otherwise they will disperse the crowd and arrest citizens for the crime of illegal assembly. At the same time, large crowds continue to pour into Pacific Place while waving flags and demonstrating banners. Slogans of the mourners include: "Hongkongers, build our nation!", "Hong Kong Independence, our only way out!", "One Nation, One Hong Kong!", "There are no rioters, only tyranny!", "Release arrestees, we want justice!" among many others.

Hongkongers Urged Not to 'Get Used to the Way Things Are'
2005 | Pacific Place, #Admiralty
Do you still remember? If you do, don't get used to the way things are. Never get used to the way things are.
In the picture, civilians could be seen gesturing "Five Demand, Not One Less", a goal all Hongkongers have been fighting for in the past year. Banners were draped over the ledges, reminding Hongkongers not to get accustomed to the absurd reality.

Words by Mourners at Leung's Memorial
20:51 | Pacific Place, #Admiralty
"How much love is required, for one to fall from such a high place?" (Top)
"Tyranny pushed him down, but it is also going to push you and me down." (Right)
"The memorial is to remind ourselves to not forget why we started, our martyrs can only rest in peace when we have succeeded.
Over past year, have you done all that you could without any regrets?" (Left)

23:28 | Pacific Place, #Admiralty
Riot police charged forward towards the altar where flowers were placed.
23:30 |
Police shouted at everyone, including reporters, to leave the altar. The riot police also warned, "We gave everyone enough time!" and told people who are not reporters to leave.
23:34 |
A reporter asked riot police to stop flashing their strong flashlights at people. Police become unhinged and uncontrollable. Some of them knocked their their shields on the floor to make loud noises, in order to intimidate the people around.
23:36 |
Reporters continued to retreat and pointed out that they did not know where the "appropriate place" that the police advised them to go to was.

13 Months On: Yellow Raincoat Man Remembered
20:49 | Pacific Place, #Admiralty
It has been 13 months since the death of Leung Ling-kit (more affectionately known as the Yellow Raincoat man), who is considered to be the first martyr of the anti-extradition movement.
Groups of people from all Walls of life have made their way down to the site of his death to place flowers in memory and tribute to him.
An illuminated light box depicting an illustration of a yellow raincoat was also hung on the tree where the flowers were being placed.
Last year, Leung's death sparked off a peaceful protest that involved 2 million participants making an appeal to the government to withdraw the extradition bill. This demonstration has made it to the books as Hong Kong's biggest demonstration up to date.
It may have already been more than a year since Leung's departure, but he will forever be remembered as an important figure in the movement.

Commemorating Tragic Loss in Anti-Extradition Protest
Supporters Risk Littering Fine with Floral Tributes
June 15th marks the fourth memorial of the tragic death of Marco Leung Ling-kit, who fell from a height at #Admiralty #Pacific Place. His passing remains a solemn reminder of the #AntiExtradition Law Amendment Bill (#AntiELAB) protest in Hong Kong in 2019. This day holds significant importance as it honors the memory of Leung and reflects upon the events that unfolded during the movement.
Leung's untimely demise, coupled with the Hong Kong government's failure to respond to the demands of pro-democracy protesters to #WithdrawTheBill, gave rise to a subsequent mass protest involving two million Hong Kongers. The resounding slogan "Not disbanding until withdrawal" echoed throughout the city as a symbol of unity and resilience.
Unlike previous years, there were no uniformed police officers stationed at the site on this occasion. However, a considerable number of plainclothes police officers were scattered in the vicinity. They did not interfere with citizens who came to pay tribute to Leung and allowed them to stand and observe a moment of silence. Nevertheless, when individuals placed their floral tributes at the designated flowerbeds, plainclothes officers holding "fixed penalty tickets" swiftly emerged from all sides, warning that failure to retrieve the flowers would result in a littering fine.
The white flowers that had been placed in the flowerbeds earlier were respectfully removed by cleaning workers around 8 o'clock in the evening.
