Granny Wong arrested for mourning deceased pro-democracy student
Feb 22, 2021 marks 17 months after the death of 15-year-old prodemocracy student #ChanYinLam.
Prominent presence of the Police was seen at Tseung Kwan O to prevent citizens from gathering in monthly commemoration of the deceased.
At around 7pm on February 22, 2021, 64-year-old #GrannyWong arrived on the scene to pay tribute to Chan. She displayed a handbill that read, “Truth: Excerpts ≠All”. Wong stood there on her own and chanted pro-democracy slogans.
Moments later, she was intercepted and searched by police officers nearby. Wong was later being arrested for inciting public disturbances and on suspicion of misconduct in public places.
