Riot Police Sets Cordon Hours Before Memorial

Today marks a year since the death of Marco Leung, the 'Yellow Raincoat Man', who jumped off from Pacific Place on June 15, 2019, in protest of the extradition to China.

Netizens have organized a memorial at Pacific Place (Admiralty) tonight to pay tribute to him. Members of the Civil Human Rights Front will be coming down to pay their respects.

Riot Police were already seen on site setting up a cordon at about 4:00pm, hours before the memorial was slated to begin.

"Eternal Memory, Never Forgotten": Death of the Yellow Raincoat Man Immortalized

Today marks a year since the passing of Marco Leung (Yellow Raincoat Man). Citizens were already seen paying tribute at the site of his death in the afternoon, with many of them leaving behind stalks and bouquets of flowers. Among the citizens paying their respects was an individual dressed in a yellow raincoat, holding a placard which read "Eternal Memory, Never Forgotten", refering to Leung's message and martyrdom as an event that will forever be etched and immortalized into every Hongkongers hearts.

"His life may have ended, but not everything has come to an end."

Many memorials and gatherings in tribute to Marco Leung (Yellow Raincoat Man) has been slated to happen all over the different districts of Hong Kong.

At a bus terminal in Mei Foo, a graffiti was spotted on the surface of the asphalt, featuring a yellow raincoat and the quote, "His life may have ended, but not everything has come to an end."

Hundreds Gather to Commemorate First Martyr of Anti-ELAB Movement

Hundreds of protesters were seen gathering at Pacific Place in Admiralty to commemorate the death of Mr. Leung Ling-kit, the first martyr known to sacrifice in the anti-ELAB movement.

Most of them were dressed in black and some of them waved “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times” flags.

Citizens Queue to Pay Tributes to 'Yellow Raincoat Man'

A large group of people were seen queueing up in an orderly manner, waiting to pay their respects to Marco Leung, the first martyr of the anti-ELAB movement. Many of them were dressed in black, wore white ribbons, and had stalks of white flowers in their hands.

Art Boxes with Meaningful Quotes on Display Outside of Pacific Plaza

As dusk approached, art boxes lit up outside of Pacific Plaza, displaying words such as "No suspicious signs", "never forget" and "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times".

Quotes from other martyrs like Hong Kong Design Institute student, Chan Yin-lam were also featured on these litter art boxes.

These exhibits serve as a reminder that even though it may feel like darkness is surrounding us, but our passion still continues to glow like never before.

Overwhelming Response as Crowds Continue to Pour in

Flowers and candles pile up as mourners placed them on the ground, all while the words from Leung's banner were rewritten on a yellow umbrella. Crowds continue to pour in, contributing to the overwhelming turnout.

Citizens Gather For Leung's Memorial Despite Police Attempts to Disperse

The police repeatedly ordered crowds gathering outside the exit of Pacific Place for Leung's memorial to immediately leave the scene, otherwise they will disperse the crowd and arrest citizens for the crime of illegal assembly. At the same time, large crowds continue to pour into Pacific Place while waving flags and demonstrating banners. Slogans of the mourners include: "Hongkongers, build our nation!", "Hong Kong Independence, our only way out!", "One Nation, One Hong Kong!", "There are no rioters, only tyranny!", "Release arrestees, we want justice!" among many others.
