At 10pm in Tuen Mun, masked riot police claimed that a man and a woman taunted the Police by dancing in front of them. The police tried to follow the pair into a beverage store in Goodrich Garden. Riot police wanted to enter the store, but was refused by the female manager.

Police lost control and dragged the female manager to the floor and tied her hands with plastic straps. Another storekeeper was also subdued by the police. After clearing the way, the police then barged into the store to arrest the pair.

The video captures how the police forced her on the ground and warned her not to hurt his colleagues. Police said, "Why are you resisting? Just stop. There is no use to resist, you will hurt my colleagues!"

Police Claim to Have Authority to Remove Masks From Anyone;
Barrister: Police order to kneel is considered demeaning

The Police stated that under the Anti-Mask Law, officers have the authority to demand anyone to remove their masks, face paint, and any other face covering items. Not complying with the demands would result in a verbal warning and the forceful removal of facial coverings. The police reserve the right to arrest any offenders.

Additionally, regarding the police operation in Tuen Mun yesterday (Oct 30), Barrister Anson Wong Yu Yat explained that unless the possession of weapon is suspected, there is no reasonable ground for the police to search anyone and demanding them to kneel or with hands on their back.

It is considered demeaning when the police demand citizens to kneel.

The High Court issues order sought by Secretary of Justice to protect pro-government judicial officials

Following a similar injunction protecting police officer, the High Court granted an interim injunction to restrain members of the public from unlawfully doxxing judicial officers as well as their families. The order will remain in effect until November 13. Those in breach may subject to investigation for civil contempt of court, which could result in imprisonment.

Lawyers have broadly welcomed the injunction, Civic Party member and lawmaker of legal sector, Dennis Kwok Wing-hang, however, expressed concern over its scope. Kwok worried that citizens, when disapproving a ruling or criticizing a judge might unintentionally break the law.

One-year after the Death of Alex Chow Tse-lok: HKUST Students' Union Sets Up Vigil on 11.8;
University Only Agrees to Provide Room for Mere 75 People

The 22-years-old student Alex Chow Tse-lok died on November 8 last year, after falling from a car park in Tseung Kwan O on November 4 during the police's dispersal operation with rounds of tear gas fired.

The Students' Union of #HKUST announced on Oct 30, 2020 that a memorial service opened to only students and teachers of HKUST would be held at the campus on November 8, which marks one year after Chow's death.

According to #HKUSTSU, the school has only agreed to provide an indoor room accommodating up to 75 people for the memorial. The students' union has asked the school to reconsider its venue decision, in the light that the room would not be able to take in all attendees.

90% of pro-democracy respondents consider HA’s demand for staff’s explanation for absent of work during a strike is politically motivated

The #HospitalAuthority (HA) recently sent a letter to employees took part in the strike early this year and asked for their explanation for absent of work.

A survey conducted by the Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute (PORI) showed that 60% of the respondents believed HA’s demand was politically motivated, while around 30% considered otherwise. Among those claiming a pro-democracy stance, an overwhelming 90% believed that there is political agenda behind HA’s action.

The strategy was tested in Hong Kong and soon implemented halfway across the world by Catalan demonstrators, determined to defend the region’s freedoms from the central Spanish government...

“Shapeless” and “leaderless” are quickly becoming the new keywords for social movements. And it looks like there cannot be one without the other. Not only is lack of leadership essential to fluidity (protesters cannot just assemble and split if they are following someone’s directives), but it also allows movements to avoid government crackdowns.

Activists Preserve HK's Tiananmen Memorial Pillar in Digital 3D Model: "They Can't Silence Us All"

In October 2021, the University of Hong Kong (#HKU) demanded the Danish creator Jens Galschiøt to remove the statue which has been on display on campus since 1998.

An activist group had digitally scanned the #PillarofShame and made the 3D model publicly available, in an effort to preserve the statue commemorating the pro-democracy protesters killed during the 1989 Tiananmen massacre in Beijing.

Thre group "Lady Liberty HK" announced the release of the publicly accessible file in a Facebook post on October 29, 2021.

"The 3D file preserves details including every face on the statue, #JensGalschiøt's signature, the writings and plates on the base," said the post.

While Galschiøt, the statue's creator, had made similar pillars commemorating other ignominious events in other countries, all pillars are unique.

This 3D model therefore represents "THE Pillar of Shame that belongs to Hong Kong."

The original Pillar had been placed on permanent display inside Hong Kong University's campus since 1998. However, HKU had recently demanded its removal, a move that drew condemnation from civic groups worldwide, as well as Galschiot, the statue's creator and owner. He had called on Hong Kong citizens to, in the event that the statue is demolished, gather as many pieces as they could, so that it could be rebuilt elsewhere in the world.

Echoing the artist's call, the group Lady Liberty HK wrote: "If one day #HKU act in accomplice to Hong Kong Gov. and the CCP and removes the statue, anyone in the world can still view it online and recreate it."

The group takes its name from the 4m-tall statue of a Hong Kong protester, which it created and displayed during the 2019 Anti-ELAB Movement, but had been destroyed by unidentified individuals. The group had also published the model file for the statue; one 3D-printed replica is now preserved in the collections of the Museum of New Zealand.
