Detail Version of the Press Conference
Legco member Tanya Chan held a press conference today at 2pm to make a police brutality and sex criminal case public. An arrested female protestor was treated inhumanely and sexually-assaulted.

The victim, Ms Lu, was injuried and arrested. Due to her injury, she was detained in a hospital under the supervisor of one female and one male police.

Few days later, the doctor checked she was capable for discharge from the hospital for the court's hearing.

Lu’s family brought her clothes, which was carefully examined by the police officers. After changing into the inspected clothing, Ms Lu left the hospital with her identity card only.

However, instead of taking her to the court, she was taken to a nearby police station.

A female police officer brought her to a room. There were two female police officers inside the room and they demanded her to strip off all of her clothings for a body search. Ms Lu was scared and asked the reason for the search. The police officer threatened her to follow the instruction as she "was a suspect and therefore must be searched".

Ms Lu tried to cover her private parts, yet, a police officer use a pen to beat her hands and thigh, forcing her legs to spread apart. After that, she was asked to squat down for 3 times despite her injuries. She was unable to do so.

Ms Lu described, during the search, the police officers did not wear any gloves and one of them was staring at her with a pleasured expression.

The police requested the victim to sign an agreement *AFTER* the strip search.

Ms Lu got dressed and as soon as she left the room, she was horrified that there were a dozen of *MALE* police officers standing outside the room, where there was no one outside before she entered. She was extremely frightened and felt harassed.

During the Q&A session, the victim explained that she was in panic and terror and she was not aware of the environment. She did not know if the door was locked nor there was gap or window for other police to peep into the room.

Her lawyer also stressed the police procedure was completely wrong and unnecessary, which requested the victim to sign an agreement *AFTER* the naked body search violated the code of conduct. His client, Ms Lu refused to sign the document. But no opportunity was given to her to launch a complaint to the police as she was heading to court's hearing that day.

Police LIED - A male police officer did get into ward

I am a nurse who works at Tuen Mun Hospital's Obstetrics and Gynecology department (OBGYN) in Hong Kong. There was a pregnant lady admitted to the hospital while being arrested by the police because of vandalism earlier. The Hong Kong police made false claims that they did not mis-treat the pregnant lady during the time she was at the hospital.

1. My understanding was that there were two police officers guarding in front of the patent's door, a male and a female officers. Somehow, the male police officer entered the room alone and trying to get a statement from the pregnant lady, while she was being checked by the nurses. He watched the whole process of her spreading her legs and the doctors/nurses examining her in the genital area and taking sample for lab testing.

2. The ward wasn’t a private ward, there were 8 patients there and the pregnant lady was one of them. Neither the police nor the person in charge of that ward that night respected the privacy of the other 7 patients, which is unacceptable in terms of ethics.

3. The police also claims that there were other patients family members, including male members were presented in the ward, thus that justify the male police being in the ward to get a statement from the pregnant lady. Unfortunately, that is far from the truth. It was way passed the visiting hours. Visitors were prohibited to enter the ward after mid-night of Oct 7, 2019, the night the pregnant lady was arrested.

Such false claims should be clarified. And as part of the OBGYN team in the hospital, I think it is important for the general public to know the truth. The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong should also clarified the situation.

Thanks for reading.

Police Allegedly Sexual Harrased Female Shopper

Troops of riot police rushed to New Town Plaza at Sha Tin, arrested at least 4 people outside and taking them to the Sha Tin Police Station. Two policemen pounced on a lady and pressed her on the ground.

Police entered the mall, constantly sprayed pepper spray inside and pointed guns at the crowd. The police eventually left the mall to gather outside of Sha Tin Railway Station.

Police Video-Tape and Demand Female Passenger to Take Dress Off, Victim was Asked to Pay 50-100 thousands for “Pixelation Fee”

In recent years, the Police Force has purchased thousands of body-worn and hand-held cameras for frontline officers to record the law enforcement process. Last year during AntiELAB protests, they were also a “great tool” in collecting evidence.

On #Oct6 last year, the second day after the Anti-mask law was in effect, large scale protests took place in multiple districts. The police started searching bus passengers since the evening to arrest the fugitives. Ms. Chan, who was on her way home, was requested by the police to alight for a search. She stated that a female police officer conducted a full-body search on her without reasonable doubt and evidence. She was demanded to take off her white one-piece dress and be video-taped with only her black underwear on, in front of the public and a group of male officers. On the next day, she filed a complaint to the Complaint Against Police Office, but waited for 6 months for a reply.

According to the news report by RTHK, Ms. Chan applied to retrieve the video involving her personal data by citing the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, but the police rejected her application by saying that the video contained information of others. Chan told the Deputy Inspector that she could accept a “pixelated” version of the video, but was in return demanded to subsidise the Police Force to purchase needed computer softwares. “They said the whole Police Force had no software that could perform pixelating function, and I have to pay for all cost of software purchase.” She questioned why the Police could release pixelated videos on their Facebook page, and the Inspector explained those videos were handled by officers’ personal computers. Later, the police verbally notified Ms. Chan, that the installation of related softwares costed 20-30 thousand dollars, but she also needed to pay for wages of the officers who handled the pixelating procedures, so the total cost would be from 50-100 thousands.

Ms. Chan then demanded the police to list out the items of payment in black and white, and to provide a quotation of the software. However, there had been no response from the police who, a month later, denied Chan’s application claiming that the video involved inspection of criminal activities. “(The Police) rejected my request each time with different reasons, which obviously were not the true ones. They hold me responsible for purchasing software and officers’ working hours. It doesn’t make any sense. They have their salary.”
