Australian Police deny ever teaching Hong Kong Police the "Soaring Bird" motorcycling technique, as the HK Force have claimed

The Hong Kong Police Force often claims to be the victim of fake news campaigns, yet many of their own statements have been revealed to be flat out lies.

The police earlier argued that there were "intranational examples" supporting the traffic police officer's practice of leaving both hands away from the motorcycle handlebars. When prompted, they failed to give any particular examples. They then claimed to have learned this technique of riding the motorcycle from an exchange with the police department of Victoria, Australia in 2013.

Pro-democracy Hong Kong lawmaker Chu Hoi-Dick inquired the Australian police, who responded that they did not practice this riding technique, nor do they have any records of interactions with the Hong Kong Police.

Beijing Validates Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office as Chinese Communist Party's Mouthpiece

The Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the PRC's State Council made a statement yesterday, criticizing "black-clad rioters" and the idea of "burning together" as "political virus" to Hong Kong.

Since last June, the office has been extremely critical of the protestors, claiming that have been challenging the "one country, two systems", ignoring the rule of law, and destroying the social order.

The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said that the Affairs Office is authorized by China to handle the affairs in Hong Kong. The Office is granted the power and responsibility to comment on behalf of the Chinese government on any crucial affairs including the relationship between China and HKSAR, the proper application of the Basic Law, and the operation of the form of government. Any act resulting in the disruption of the social order and security is strongly criticised.

The Affairs Office also indicated that HKSAR has the responsibility to pass the Article 23 to safeguard national security. Anyone who violates the Basic Law and the constitution, attempts to distort the nation, or causes a threat to national security, is to be punished based on the existing laws in Hong Kong.

4 'Non-suspicious' Deaths in One Day, According to the Police

Four people jumped to their deaths on Thursday May 7, all of which were declared non-suspicious by the police.

At three in the afternoon, a 38-year-old woman surnamed Lau fell off of a footbridge adjacent to On Tai Estate Yung Tai House. The police found no suicide note on-site. They suspect that Lam fell out of a stairwell from above.

At five in the afternoon, an 11-year-old girl fell from her apartment in Tak Long Estate Tak Pui House. The police found a suicide note on-site.

At nine in the evening, a 73-year-old man surnamed Shing fell from a village house in Mang Kung Uk Wat Sum Village. Police suspected that Shing accidentally fell to his death while cleaning the roof.

Meanwhile, at roughly the same time, a 58-year-old man surnamed Chung fell from a high place in Kwai Shing East Estate Shing On House. The police found no suicide note on-site. They suspected that Chung fell from a corridor above.

Man Accused of Possessing Poison Has Prosecution Withdrawn, Jeremy Tam Censures Police Arbitrary Arrests

After protestors occupied the Legislative Council building on July 1 last year, police officers intercepted multiple vans near Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, and arrested a van driver for "Possession of Part I Poison" and "Possession of Instrument Fit for Unlawful Purpose".

Legislative Councillor Jeremy Tam Man-ho, who assisted the arrested driver, said that the driver was only found with asthma medication, stating that he "would have believed that this was some Golden Triangle drug smuggling case if one was not informed about it".

After he was notified that the driver had his prosecution withdrawn due to lack of evidence, Tam censured the police for conducting indiscriminate and arbitrary arrests, stating that the police "often frame Hongkongers", and noted the irony of the officers from the Regional Anti-Triad Unit, whose possession of methamphetamine made headlines in early May. He remarked, "The true drug smugglers may be the Regional Anti-Triad Unit who claims to be 'Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty'".

District Councilors Host Media Reception in Chair's Office, Only to be Banned by Home Affairs Department

The Kwai Tsing District Council is set to convene a meeting on 12 May, during which the pro-Democracy camp will pass a declaration expressing strong condemnation towards the cutting of the district council's budget by the Home Affairs Department.

Vice chair of the Kwai Tsing District Council Cheung Man Lung stated that chair Sin Chung-kai had received a note on Wednesday (#May6) from the district officer stating that Sin could not host the media reception in his office, further adding that he would report to the police if there were a gathering of more than four people, violating the social distancing ban.

Kenneth Cheng, district officer of the Kwai Tsing district suggested that the chair's office could be used for the media reception since it is considered a political declaration. The pro-democracy camp then changed the location of the media reception from the Kwai Hing Government Offices to councilor Ng Kim Sing's office, located in Kwai Fong Estate.

Police officers from the Kwai Tsing Police Public Relations Branch entered the chair's office on Thursday morning (#May7) to "understand the situation". Home Affairs Department employees also ripped away press notices posted by pro-democracy councilors, claiming that the information stated on the notices was not accurate. Cheung stated that the Home Affairs Department would only try harder to suppress the district council, and criticized the actions as idiotic and ridiculous.

After national security police raided #Chickeeduck 's new Tsuen Wan branch on May 6, 2021, store owner #HerbertChow recounted the ordeal in English to reporters at the store.

About 30 officers entered the premises with a search warrant, he said, claiming that the store may have products that violated the National Security Law.

Although the police only searched for products, all store staff were detained and not allowed to leave, even at Chow's request.

Many customers left the store when the police began surrounding and cordoning off the shop, and police took down the ID card numbers of the customers before letting them go.

Chow and four other employees remained in the store as the policemen conducted their search for about an hour, opening bags and carton boxes. The police found nothing. However, one senior officer told Chow that although the police were not confiscating any evidence, the investigation was not finished.

He gave Chow a verbal warning: "In the future, if you violate the National Security Law, we will prosecute you."

When Chow asked him whether he had violated any law, the officer only answered, "We have no responsibility to answer your question." "I just want to know whether I can continue business," Chow said.

Since the police did not remove any questionable items, he reasoned, everything in the store could be assumed to be legal, and the store could continue to open for business. "So have I violated any law?" Chow asked, "Should I continue, or should I take away some stuff?" The officer only said again that they were not obliged to answer.

"So this is Hong Kong," said a flabbergasted Chow. "The national security department is so powerful, they can come in, interrupt your business for one hour, take your customers' ID card numbers, and they don't have to explain.“

"This is a Hong Kong I'm not familiar with. I've been living here for 57 years; this is the first time I've experienced this."

Chow is resolute in continuing his business despite the harassment, though his view of the police force is quickly dimming.

"I used to tell youngsters that there are good people in the police force. I'm changing [my stance]."
