Hong Kong Police Introduce Purple Flag to Warn Violaters of National Security Law

Members from League of Social Democrats gathered at Wan Chai in the morning of July 1 at 7AM to march towards the Golden Bauhinia Square in protest of National Security Law.

Police conducted stop and search for 30 minutes citing the National Security Law which has taken effect since 11pm on June 30, 2020. The police has also prepared a purple flag to warn civilians of violating the National Security Law.

Police Encircle Pandemic Prevention Booth Run by Pro-democracy Activist

Pro-democracy activist Tam Tak-chi set up a booth on the street of Kowloon Bay on July 20 to help raise citizens' awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At around 7pm, over 20 uniform police of the PTU arrived at the scene, claiming that the gathering ban (Cap.599G) might have been violated.

After the police left, Tam chanted "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times", a popular protest slogan perceived by the government as a suggestion of independence. The police then returned to raise the purple flag, warning of the possible infringement of the National Security Law. The police behaviour had agitated the civilians waiting at the bus stop.

HK Police Clamping Down 7.21 Remembrance in Yuen Long with National Security Violation Warning

August 21, 2020 marked 13 months since the 7.21 Yuen Long Attack, where white-clad assaulted civilians and police allegedly turned a blind eye to these brutal attackd.

At 8pm today in Yuen Long's Yoho Mall, some civilians shout slogans. Riot police arrived less than 10 minutes later and hoisted a Purple Flag. Police warned people around might be in violation of the Hong Kong National Security Law.

Police moved forward quickly and suddenly and intercepted lots of civilians. More police then arrived on the spot to support, and police continued to extend cordoned line until the whole shopping mall was completely blocked. Police yelled at the civilians to leave the mall at once, or otherwise they would violate the group gathering ban.

At the street booth distributing facemasks run by social activist Tam Tak-Chi, at least 20 uniform and plainclothes police arrived and raised the purple flag, warning of potential national security violation.

Tam is the vice chairman of the pro-democracy party People Power.

November 21, 2020 marks 16 nonths since the 7.21 Triad attack on civilians in Yuen Long.

Civilians chanted pro-democracy slogans and sang "Glory to Hong Kong".

Police entered the mall and set up cordon immediately. They raised the purple flag warning of the breach of the national security law.

According to sources, plainclothes police had been deployed in the shopping mall to monitor civilians' activities.
