Police Occupy Nathan Road and Call Journalists as "a Bunch of People in Yellow Vests Holding Cameras"

At about 10 o'clock in the evening, several police vehicles made their way to Nathan Road, Mong Kok. A large number of police officers then got off the bus, causing significant distress to surrounding civilians.

The police officers then got into formation on the pedestrian path, and "parted the Red Sea", separating the people around into two batches at the side. Meanwhile, they constantly asked the people at the scene to step back.

A police officer then made an announcement over the microphone to provoke the reporters, calling reporters "a bunch of people in yellow vests holding cameras".

He then said, "This road does not belong to you all, can you all stop crowding on this road and make space for the people to walk?"

It was the police who initially parted the crowd to the road.

The police officer then targeted the reporters again and said, "We can always help you all out with it if you think that this is beyond your abilities."

The police officer sometimes put his right hand in front of his action call sign.

After the brutal attack by the police officers in Mong Kok and the arrest of reporters on Mother's Day last Sunday, Commissioner of Police, Chris Tang Ping-keung openly acknowledged the 'undesirable' behavior of the police that night, and that they will be investigating on it.

Police Swears At and Pepperspray Onlookers and Reporters

At Shatin's New Town Plaza, the police arrested a teenage boy. One police officer pressed the boy on the floor and his partner pointed pepper spray at the surrounding onlookers.

A woman immediately opened her umbrella to protect herself. Without any prior warning, the police pepper-sprayed the civilians and reporters at close range, while the officer kept on cussing hysterically.

Those who fell victim to the police pepper spray at the scene had their skin injured, as the burning sensation continued to hurt.

"The pain is really quite intense, I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight," said S, the person who filmed this.

Sing With You: Carrie Lam's Birthday Edition

Netizens initiated a "Sing With You" event in shopping malls across 9 shopping malls in Hong Kong, hoping to voice discontent over the city's Chief Executive Carrie Lam particularly on her birthday. Citizens started to unfurl protest banners and chanted slogans at around 7pm in Taikoo Shing, Kwun Tong, Shatin, Tsuen Wan, Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, Tai Po, Tuen Mum and Jordan.

An assortment of creative posters and printouts were seen across different districts of Hong Kong to 'celebrate' Carrie Lam's Birthday. At Mong Kok's Langham Place, civilians prepared a cake with the words “5 Demands, Not 1 Less” and tossed Joss, both actions revealed extreme grievances deep rooted in the community since the pro-democracy movement began last June.

Peaceful gathering again ended prematurely when large troops of riot police arrived at the scene, ordering civilians to leave, threatening that they could be fined flouting the anti-gathering ban. Journalists were continued to be targeted, e.g. in Shatin, plainclothes officers pepper-sprayed reporters nearby without giving proper prior warning.
