A Statement of a Group of MTR Frontline Staff
We are a group of MTR frontline staff including Station Officers, Assistants and Train Captains. We are extremely infuriated by the operations undertaken by the police on 10th and 11th August within and around the railway area. We also regret the MTR Corporation’s silent approval of these actions.
As the Anti-Extradition protests go on, the Police Force has deployed tactics and actions around the railway areas which endanger the safety of MTR staff and passengers. On 10th August, the Police fired Tear Gas around Tai Wai. The gas entered both the station and train compartments, causing irritations among the passengers. That night, the Police also entered the Whampoa Station to make mass arrests, disturbing the local residents in the area.
On 11th August, the Police has gone even more out of control: By deploying tear gas to disperse the crowd in Wan Chai, they caused the tear gas to enter and diffuse inside the MTR station. In the evening, the Police even fired tear gas directly inside the Kwai Fong Station, inducing extreme chaos and frights.
We condemn the aforementioned behaviour of the Police. All these operations endanger not only the life of frontline staff, but also passengers' safety, not to mention that the train service has been disrupted severely. The Hong Kong Police Force should desist from similar operations, and return the railway area into its original state.
The MTR Corporation often puts emphasis on "political neutrality" in order to provide railway service in a professional manner. On the contrary, the Police has been allowed to disrupt the train services consecutively.
We hereby express our utmost discontent, for that the MTR Corporation has ignored the safety of its passengers and staff. We have lost confidence over the Corporation. We demand the MTR Corporation to cut ties with the Police, in order to restore trust among passengers and staff, and to openly state the Corporation's level of participation in the recent police operations.
If the MTR Corporation fails to respond to our demands, we might carry out work-to-rule and other actions.

In the video, a person who has already been subdued by the police was lying on the ground, with his hands tied behind his back. A police approached and kicked the man in his head. After the shock, the man turned and opened his mouth wide. Another police allegedly put a head cover on the man. The man was shouted at and escorted by the police to board a vehicle.

The Hong Kong police suspended their press conference at around 16:44, after a journalist requested the police to stop violence on members of the press.
The journalist recounted cases of police violence and violation of press freedom. She demonstrated how the police flashed light on journalists obstructing them from reporting. She called on other journalists to boycott the press conference.

Apple Daily boycotts police press conferences
Apple Daily announced today (Oct 28) that they will not attend protest-related press conferences held by the Hong Kong Police, until the police start displaying their identification number and the government withdraws the injunction on the disclosure of police personal details (names included).
Apple Daily states that they will continue to acquire information from the police but they refuse to be the mouthpiece of the authorities.

One of the relatives of an arrestee, Mr. Y, was still waiting outside the police station late at night. He said that his 30-year-old cousin was arrested. They originally planned to buy sneakers in Mong Kok but was separated near Sino Center. Mr Y couldn't reach his cousin through calls, it was only after 6 o'clock that he learned from friends that his cousin has been arrested.

More than 6,700 protesters were arrested in the anti-government demonstrations triggered by the Belarusian presidential election on August 9. The detention centers were overcrowded as a result. Many media sources showed that the detained protesters were physically abused by the police. Amnesty International pointed out that the protesters were tortured extensively. Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Barsukov said that all protesters would be released by 6 a.m. Friday morning (Aug 14). So far more than 2,000 protesters have been released.
Inhumane custodial conditions
Protesters beaten without getting treatments
Some released protesters posted photos on Nexta, which showed that they have suffered a lot of injuries, including large purple bruises and swelling on their backs or buttocks. They said the injuries were caused by the police. Amnesty International stated that some arrestees were stripped naked, beaten and threatened with rape.
Many journalists and pedestrians were arrested as well. One of the released Russian journalists, Nikita Telizhenko, disclosed her three-day detention life. She mentioned that many detainees were forced to sleep on the ground which had blood and faeces. They were not allowed to use the toilet or even change their lying positions for many hours. Ms. Telizhenko has already returned to Russia.
