Police LIED - A male police officer did get into ward
I am a nurse who works at Tuen Mun Hospital's Obstetrics and Gynecology department (OBGYN) in Hong Kong. There was a pregnant lady admitted to the hospital while being arrested by the police because of vandalism earlier. The Hong Kong police made false claims that they did not mis-treat the pregnant lady during the time she was at the hospital.
1. My understanding was that there were two police officers guarding in front of the patent's door, a male and a female officers. Somehow, the male police officer entered the room alone and trying to get a statement from the pregnant lady, while she was being checked by the nurses. He watched the whole process of her spreading her legs and the doctors/nurses examining her in the genital area and taking sample for lab testing.
2. The ward wasn’t a private ward, there were 8 patients there and the pregnant lady was one of them. Neither the police nor the person in charge of that ward that night respected the privacy of the other 7 patients, which is unacceptable in terms of ethics.
3. The police also claims that there were other patients family members, including male members were presented in the ward, thus that justify the male police being in the ward to get a statement from the pregnant lady. Unfortunately, that is far from the truth. It was way passed the visiting hours. Visitors were prohibited to enter the ward after mid-night of Oct 7, 2019, the night the pregnant lady was arrested.
Such false claims should be clarified. And as part of the OBGYN team in the hospital, I think it is important for the general public to know the truth. The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong should also clarified the situation.
