Pro-democracy Protesters Remind Citizens Not to Indulge in Holidays
Yesterday was Christmas Eve. As the movement continues, some front-line protesters hoped that Hongkongers would not be indulged in the festive atmosphere, and forget the arrested demonstrators. They also hoped that one day they could end the protest and the continuous protests were a means to end the movement. He said he would camp overnight outside the British Consulate General in Hong Kong, to arouse international awareness to the situation in Hong Kong. He added that it was not difficult to sleep on the streets compared to the citizens arrested and detained because of the movement.
Some "Peaceful, rational, non-violent" protesters said they felt guilty when they think of the arrested protestors; and were not in the mood for celebrating Christmas this year. They will respond to online calls for demostration by joining the "Shop with You" action.

Citizens marched from Harbour City to the Avenue of Stars, chanting protest slogans and singing the protest anthem “May Glory to Hong Kong”. The crowd attempted to cross into Nathan Road to move northward to Mong Kok but were promptly stopped as the riot police fired tear gas grenades.
When the citizens were still approaching the police cordon lines, the police broadcast in the Avenue of Stars that some people assaulted the police and threw petrol bombs.
After which, about 20 police officers surged forward from Nathan Road suddenly, “walk back onto pedestrian roads!” as they bawled at citizens. The officers threatened pedestrians by waving they batons, shouting “get out of our way!” The provoked crowds shouted back “of course the roads are packed at Christmas Eve!”, “come back onto pavement.”

Citizens being stopped and searched at Christmas Eve
At Christmas Eve, many citizens were stopped and searched by the police while walking from Causeway Bay to the bar district Lan Kwai Fong in Central.
Citizens that originally gathered at Times Square walked from Causeway Bay to Lan Kwai Fong along the pavement. They shouted slogans on the way, but were being stopped while passing by Wanchai Police Headquarters.
Over 50 citizens on the scene were ordered to take off their masks and show their identity cards. Everyone of them was being searched and the same applied to their personal belongings. Lots of riot police arrived at the scene later on to expand the blocked area, not allowing pedestrians to walk nearby. Lots of people were being taken away.

On Christmas Eve, the government made the unprecedented move of sending riot police to clear away the homeless from parks. Community groups revealed that police threw away homeless people’s possessions, and threatened them with arrest.
Despite having begged for mercy, one homeless disabled person was threatened by police, who told him, “If you don’t leave, I’ll throw you onto the truck too.”
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department admitted that they had participated in a joint action with the Police. They, however, claimed that they were not targeting the homeless, but were only aiming to improve cleanliness in parks.
