Post-80s Entrepeneur Creates 'Yellow' Pro-democracy Rice Company to break Established Monopoly

A Post-80s businessman created a pro-democracy rice company "Riceberg," hoping to widen thr spectrum of the pro-democracy movement and breaking monopoly. This is to add "another voice" in the industry, creating a rice company in Hong Kong with a conscience which is willing to speak for its people.

He reveals that getting into the industry is very risky, with high costs, and is expected to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, he chose to "make a gamble," telling Hong Kong people to "not to bend down for 5 grams of rice."

#Chickeeduck Suffers Political Suppression

Herbert Chow, the owner of the chain children's clothing store Chickeeduck, had placed the Hong Kong Goddess of Democracy at the Discovery Park branch in Tsuen Wan earlier. It was ordered to be removed by the New World Development, the mall owner, but he refused.

Chow received an email notification from the owner today that his contract will not be renewed and will have to move out within 21 days. He described the situation as abrupt, "I am feeling the political pressure of real estate developers," and rebuked New World Development, "The 1% have compromised", and hope to let the public see the true colors with this incident, "they're just like the government. "

Chickeeduck has set up shop in Discovery Park since July 25, 2017. Yesterday, the mall sent a letter to Chow that the lease will be annulled on June 30 and asked Chickeeduck to move out within 21 days; the letter also did not mention the reasons for refusing a renewal.

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen: Disappointed by the passing of the National Security Law, Hong Kongers shall keep fighting for freedom and democracy

While attending the press conference of Chunghwa Telecom on 30 June, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen was asked about her thoughts on the passing of Hong Kong’s National Security Law.

President Tsai said that she is very disappointed as the Chinese government once promised Hong Kong people “One Country, Two Systems” and “no change for 50 years”. She added that the social movements in HK proved that “One Country, Two Systems” is not feasible. She also encouraged Hong Kong people to continue to protect their beloved democracy and freedom.

On the humanitarian aid for Hong Kong people, President Tsai announced the establishment of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Services and Exchanges Office. The office began running on 1 July to process asylum applications from Hong Kong people.

The following was posted by actor-activist Gregory Wong on facebook on 30 June 2020, after the National Security Law was in effect in Hong Kong:

"Everyone is worried about
The days after tomorrow ...
23 years, almost half of 50,
We experienced a radical change like 100 years ...
Don't be scared of the white terror ahead of us...
Remember the colourful rainbow after the rain 🌈
Take some paper of different colours
Write down our history,
Write down why we look forward.
Never forget our original cause.

We are Hongkongers."

June 30, 2021, Hong Kong: 24 Years after the #Handover and 1 Year after the enforcement of the National Security Law

On June 30, 2021, the flags of the Hong Kong SAR and of the PRC were hanged across the territory, as the authorities celebrate the handover of Hong Kong's sovereignty from Britain to the PRC in 1997.

The day also marks one year since the #NationalSecurityLaw has been forcefully imposed by Beijing.

While the annual July 1st march of the pro-democracy camp has been objected by the police, the force claimed that they will still deploy 10,000 officers. The scale is similar to that on June 4, 2021.

The Government is aldp awarding awards to 750 individuals who made "contribution" to
society. The list included at lesst 20 politicians from the pro-Beijing party DAB and members of the Department of Jusfice such as the Chief Justice and Judge.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Next Media, the parent company of Apple Daily, is forced to stop operating. The company's is still being frozen.

China applauds Canadian senators who voted against genocide motion as 'people of vision'

China's foreign ministry is praising Canadian senators who voted down a motion to label the Chinese government's treatment of Uyghurs as genocide — calling them "people of vision" who see through "the despicable schemes of a few anti-China forces."

A spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry said Wednesday that the defeat of Motion 79 — which called on the Senate to recognize that China's government is perpetrating a genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims — shows that the "the hype of 'genocide' in Xinjiang is unpopular and doomed to fail."

"We urge some Canadian politicians to respect facts, stop the clumsy trick of attacking China for their selfish political gains, and stop interfering in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights," said ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin.
