[The battle against violence] Blocked exit routes pushed protestors to despair. Protestors still refuse to surrender and insist to stay till the last moment.
(20 Nov) “As far as I know, there are at least four missing. They said they will go down and walk around, check things out and return, but they never did. We tried calling but could not reach them…" This is the fourth day the protestors' stay at the Polytechnic University (Poly U). Those who have been fighting side by side have been arrested, sent to the hospital or were "disappeared" when they tried to break out. This led the number of protestors inside the campus to drop from about a thousand to less than 50 people. Only a few lucky ones successfully escaped the campus. A lot of protestors' health have deteriorated and have to reluctantly temporarily withdraw from the battlefield. They are resting in the campus hoping to break out again. Some of the protestors said that they suspect police have infiltrated the campus and among the protestors. Therefore, they do not know which escape route is viable, leading them to despair. However, they have no intention to surrender. If the break out fails, they will stay on the campus till the last minute.
