Taiwan Suggests Mutual Legal Assistance with Hong Kong; Security Bureau States That No Laws Are Present to Allow Such Assistance

In October, a Taiwanese suspect fled back to Taiwan after robbing a watch shop in Tsim Sha Tsui. He was detained by the Taiwan Taichung District Procurators Office. The Procurators Office recently requested for mutual legal assistance with Hong Kong, hoping to obtain the CCTV footage of the crime scene and the victim’s statement. The Security Bureau however stated that there were no laws in Hong Kong that allowed mutual legal assistance or the transfer of fugitives with Taiwan. The Bureau also stated the Hong Kong Police had already classified the case as robbery and was handling it according to the Hong Kong law; if the suspect came to Hong Kong willingly and turned himself in, authorities would always accept and no restrictions would present itself.

The robbery happened on October 6, with the suspect robbing a watch shop on Mody Road with an air gun. After stealing two watches with the total value of 990,000 HKD, the suspect fled back to Taiwan and was arrested a couple of days ago.

[Editor's Note:
On the extradition matter, the HKSAR Government could be seen adopting an asymmetrical attitude towards the ROC Government (Taiwan).

After the murder of Poon Hiu-wing that sparked the proposal of the 2019 Hong Kong extradition bill and the corresponding Hong Kong protests, the HKSAR Government suggested the accused suspect Chan Tong-kai to surrender himself to the ROC Government (Taiwan) while also demanded the ROC Government (Taiwan) to desecrate their own national dignity by using an unprecedented and atypical approach. When the ROC Government (Taiwan) refused to oblige, the HKSAR Government saw fit to "move" Chan Tong-kai into a luxury home for settlement while also condemning the ROC Government (Taiwan) of "indulging offenders".

But when the ROC Government (Taiwan) stated their wish to extradite an accused suspect to the HKSAR government, the HKSAR government stated that it could do nothing to aid the situation. Is this a demonstration of the HKSAR Government's forgetfulness and negligence? Or have they been forced to forget stare decisis (a core principle of the common law system adopted by Hong Kong) and its original political intention under the authoritative leadership of the PRC Central Government?]

Former CE #CYLeung Uses CE Office to Register a Foundation that Calls On Informants

The “803 Foundation Co., Ltd” and “803 Informant Reward Website” were established by former Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung to encourage people to tell on the pro-democracy protesters for police to make arrest.

Stand News discovered that Leung had been using the address of the CE office for the "803" company for a consecutive of 4 months until December 2019.

Senior barrister, Alan Leong Kah-kit, pointed out that the CE's office directly operates with public funds for designated purpose. If a company is registered at the address of the Office, it is granted a “semi-official” connection. He further elaborated that if violating the industrial title deeds could lead to the arrest of Jimmy Lai, CY Leung could be committing a much severe crime for using the Office of former CE for non-designated purposes.

When a ray of light becomes a crime

Mr Hui is 30 year old and trendily dressed. His hair is perfectly styled and he wears a few earrings on his left ear. Last night he wore a brand new white shirt with a slim black tie.

At 8pm he got a white candle and a black paper cup as a windshield from a volunteer in the commercial district of Causeway Bay. He held the lit up candle and slowly walked towards Victoria Park. He was stopped by a police right across the road opposite the park. At this point, half of the candle was burnt and the paper cup filled with candle tears.
