🏙 The WINDY CITY Series by Liz Tomforde 🌇

А вот и первый книжный пост! Я наконец закончила читать этот прекрасный цикл спортивных любовных романов. Для меня это однозначно 9/10 в своем жанре!

🔴Так получилось, что первые две книги я читала на русском, а потом в моей жизни появился kindle. Теперь я читаю только в оригинале, потому что это, конечно, совершенно другие эмоции.

❤️ Эта серия понравится всем любителям старых добрых ромкомов 2000-х. Все герои очень relatable, как и проблемы, с которыми они сталкиваются.

💊 Рекомендована как лекарство от хандры.

🔴Читать книги можно, как по порядку, так и по отдельности. Но если планируете читать всю серию, то лучше все-таки придерживаться порядка, так как персонажи из первых книг появляются в последующих, и вы можете поймать спойлеров.

Интересный факт об авторе романов:
Отчасти первая книга вдохновлена работой Лиз Томфорд. Как и героиня первой книги в серии, Стиви, она работает стюардессой в команде НХЛ. Но даже когда книги принесли ей ошеломительный успех, она стеснялась называть себя писательницей.

🔮 PHRASES FROM 'CHARMED' (Part I) 🔮


✨ Я тут начала пересматривать Зачарованных ('Charmed'). Ну какие сериалы раньше снимали крутые! Ниже делюсь с вами интересной лексикой.

1️⃣ to make a commitment - to promise or pledge to do something - взять обязательство, пообещать; в контексте отношений - готовность вступить в серьезные отношения

🔴She made a commitment to exercise three times a week.
🔴He was not ready to make a commitment so he just ended things with her.

2️⃣ the bottom line - the most important fact in a situation - суть дела, самое главное

Я недавно дочитала седьмую книгу цикла Throne of glass (Стеклянный трон) by Sarah J. Maas “Tower of Dawn” (Башня рассвета). Во время прочтения наткнулась на одну интересную фразу, которой захотелось с вами поделиться.

🃏 to have a card up one’s sleeve - to have a secret plan, idea, or advantage that can be utilized if and when it is required ➡️ дословно: иметь карту в рукаве. Иметь скрытый план или секретное преимущество

🔴And as that storm raged around Nesryn and Sartaq, she wondered if Aelin Galathynius might yet have some card up her sleeve that even her court might not know about.

📍 Это выражение появилось примерно в 1800-х годах. Оно связано с азартными играми в карты. Если человек хотел схитрить в карточной игре, он мог спрятать туза или другую выигрышную карту в рукаве рубашки, а когда это было необходимо для выигрыша, достать карту из рукава и положить ее себе в руку.

📌 Со временем люди стали использовать эту фразу для обозначения любого секретного ресурса, не только в азартных играх.

📖 TAMING 7️⃣(Part I) 📖


📚 Я сейчас читаю пятую часть цикла "Boys of Tommen" - "Taming 7" (Укротить 7-го) Хлои Уолш. Это у нас снова спортивные романы, но, если честно, про спорт тут очень мало. Здесь скорее про любовь, дружбу, эмоциональное и физическое нас*лие в семье, буллинг, нарк*тическую зависимость. Также поднимаются темы различных психических расстройств, например, биполярное расстройство, ПТСР и другие.

Если вы хотите почитать что-нибудь душераздирающее, "стеклянное", то очень советую этот цикл. Вряд ли кого-то эта серия оставит равнодушным. Перевод на русский сделан не очень хорошо, а вот если решитесь читать на английском, не пожалеете и встретите очень много крутых современных выражений. Читать обязательно по порядку:

- Binding 13 (Зацепить 13-го)
- Keeping 13 (Удержать 13-го)
- Redeeming 6 (Изменить 6-го)
- Saving 6 (Спасти 6-го)
- Taming 7 (Укротить 7-го)
- Releasing 10 (Освободить 10-го) - скоро должна появиться на русском

Давайте разберем немного лексики из пятой части:

🌸 to chime in - to suddenly say something in order to add your opinion to a conversation 🤩 вмешиваться, встревать в разговор

Есть у меня фильм, который я смотрю всегда, когда мне плохо. Pitch Perfect (Идеальный голос) и все его части неизменно поднимают мне настроение и заряжают позитивом.
