7:30 PM (GMT+7) - July 14 | Key U.S. Economic Data
The market is now fully focused on the upcoming U.S. CPI report.
Headline inflation is expected to decline by 0.1% month-over-month, mainly due to lower energy prices. However Core CPI the inflation measure the Fed watches most closely is still forecast to rise by 0.2% month-over-month and remain at 2.8% year-over-year.
If Core CPI comes in above expectations, inflationary pressure will increase, reinforcing the possibility that the Fed will maintain a tighter monetary policy. This could strengthen the U.S. Dollar and put significant downward pressure on Gold.
On the other hand, if CPI comes in below expectations, pressure on Gold could ease, creating room for a recovery.
πCore CPI < 0.2% β Gold may have an opportunity to move higher.
πCore CPI > 0.2% β A stronger USD could keep Gold under heavy selling pressure.
