WHY DOESN’T CHINA🇨🇳 DUMP US🇺🇸 TREASURY BILLS?

Victor Gao: ‘China wants to make sure that the Chinese foreign currency reserve can be well-invested. And investing in the US treasury is one of the ways to deploy Chinese foreign currency reserves.

China used to be the largest treasury bond holder. China consistently and continuously reduced its US treasury bond holding. And this is also a fact well-recorded. And in the future, I think China will continue to decrease its US treasury bonds.

China also cares about the financial integrity of the global financial market as a whole. And for example, if the United States financial market tanks, it’s absolutely bad for the United States, that’s without a doubt.

But, it’s also bad for the international economy, international financial integrity.
So from the Chinese perspective being very philosophical for thousands of years, the Chinese mind is always being very philosophical.

We want to do the right thing, even if doing the right thing means the opposite side will benefit. And we do not want to do the wrong thing, even if doing the wrong thing will make the hostile side suffer, if mankind will suffer more.

So I think, you are talking about an equilibrium. And the Chinese equilibrium is always don’t do unto others what you do not want others do unto you.”

On this day in 1937, Italian communist leader and theorist Antonio Gramsci died. He was born in Sardinia to a poor family and witnessed class oppression firsthand. Gramsci became a key figure in the Italian Communist Party and opponent of Mussolini's fascist regime.

He was imprisoned in 1926 and endured severe torture at the hands of Mussolini’s fascists. While in prison, he wrote the Prison Notebooks, where he developed groundbreaking ideas on cultural hegemony; the idea that ruling classes maintain dominance by shaping cultural norms, values, and ideologies to secure consent, not just through force. Gramsci argued that true revolution required challenging this cultural control, making him a pioneer of modern revolutionary theory.

He died in 1937 from illnesses brought about by the draconian conditions he faced in fascist Italy’s prisons.
