FIDEL CASTRO, BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1926:
In the first 30 months after Fidel Castro and Cuba’s🇨🇺 communists came to power, more classrooms were built in those 30 months than had been built in the previous 30 years.
In the previous 30 years, Cuba had become a de-facto US colony, and a safe haven for mafia criminals from the US. Before Castro’s revolution, US financial interests owned 90% of #Cuba’s mines, 80% of public utilities, 50% of railways, 40% of sugar production and 25% of Cuba’s bank deposits. With the arrival of the Cuban revolution, the US’ control of Cuba was broken.
Despite the illegal US embargo, Cuba built a world-class healthcare system, resulting in the island nation beating the US on life expectancy and infant mortality rates. Cuba’s abundance of world-class doctors have been sent all around the world to assist countries’ healthcare systems, 605,000 healthcare professionals had been sent to 165 nations since the Cuban Revolution.
Fidel Castro and former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched a medical program called Operation Miracle, which treated blindness and restored sight for over 4 million people free of charge.
Castro provided material support to the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa🇿🇦 and aided Namibia’s🇳🇦 liberation struggle
Castro survived 634 assassination attempts, many of these were orchestrated by the CIA.

Fidel Castro, born on this day in 1926, after the CIA’s failed Bay of Pigs invasion:
'The US government says that a socialist regime here threatens US security. But what threatens the security of the North American people is the aggressive policy of the warmongers of the United States.
What threatens the security of the North American family and people is the violence, that aggressive policy, that policy that ignores the sovereignty and the rights of other peoples...that aggressive policy can give rise to a world war, and that world war can cost the lives of tens of millions of North Americans.'
Those words are still true today.

🚨APOCALYPTIC TRUE GAZA DEATH TOLL:
‘We already have numbers of more than 60,000 people who were killed directly by bombs and military attacks. But there are estimations of more than 100,000 that are already dead. Other estimations are much higher than that.
And I think only when we’ll see the excess death of Palestinians in Gaza in 2024, in 2025, we’ll see how many Gazans died in 2022, for example, and how many died in 2024. And then we’ll see the excess deaths and will be much higher than the number of Palestinians who were killed by bombs.
And that number is because of starvation, is because of the destruction of the healthcare system. It’s because of cancer patients who couldn’t get treatment, dialysis patients who could not access dialysis in order to survive, kids with conditions that require a medical evacuation.
Israel is blocking medical evacuation for almost two years in different ways. With more than 14,000 patients who need urgent medical evacuation outside of Gaza and they are blocked. More than 600 of them died.
I get these messages almost daily. We’re getting the messages we need to get that kid out. And then a week later, that kid died, we couldn’t save him.’
-Dr. Guy Shalev, Executive Director of Physicians for Human Rights-Israel; which along with B’Tselem, says Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

VLADIMIR PUTIN🇷🇺: ‘The last 4 years were the lowest point for US-Russia relations since the end of the Cold War.’
This is an understatement. At no point during the so-called Cold War did Washington arm a proxy to strike inside the Soviet Union, and even attack the Russian nuclear deterrent.

🇺🇸🇷🇺TRUMP-PUTIN SUMMIT: A SIGNIFICANT FIRST SMALL STEP TO PEACE?
No concrete agreement reached, but a lot of good progress and understanding made. In the previous insanity of the 4 years of Genocide Joe and Holocaust Harris, the nuclear powers were in a proxy war and Washington refused to even negotiate with Moscow…
Now, at the very least, Washington and Moscow are talking in depth about each other’s positions, and genuinely trying to reach an agreement to end the death and destruction in Ukraine. No deal yet, but this is a giant positive for the prospect of world peace.
Of course NATO nation media such as Comcast Sky News is absolutely seething at the prospect of Trump treating Putin as an equal, and as the leader of a great power, because their understanding of geopolitics is an infantile mess. A classroom of children could offer better solutions than any of these well-paid useless stenographers.
European leaders, the mighty members of the Coalition of the Irrelevant/The ‘No One Asked Us’ Alliance are also seething. All of their efforts to persuade Trump to be intransigent, just hurl threats at Vladimir Putin, and mimic the failed policy of Joe Biden towards Russia have completely failed. They have been sidelined and simply told to ‘shut up’ like the vassals on leashes that they are.
One thing is clear; Trump understands the recipe for how relations between great powers should be. Differences can exist, conflicts can arise, but mutual respect and a constant willingness to compromise, negotiate, and just talk, is essential to avoid nuclear Armageddon.
Going forward, for a peace agreement to be reached, essential root causes of this dire state of superpower relations must be addressed:
1. NATO cannot and must not expand to Ukraine
2. The US must stop disrespecting and ignoring Russia’s legitimate security concerns that any leader in the Kremlin would have
3. Security must include Russia, and not be aimed against Russia
4. The realities on the ground in the proxy war that Washington provoked over 3 decades must be acknowledged
This meeting’s outcome indicates that Washington is at least moving in the right direction towards mutual respect and understanding of Russia’s positions.
The real dividend for the rest of the world if a successful agreement is reached to end the Ukraine proxy war and ease superpower tensions, is that finally, with Moscow and Washington on the same page, the two can work in tandem to ease geopolitical tensions and end wars around the world; the Gaza genocide, looming war with Iran, Latin America…
And perhaps, Moscow could be the bridge between the US and China🇨🇳, to avert a future catastrophic conflict which would bring nothing but destruction and economic misery to the world.
