The promises of ending the forever wars have gone up in smoke. Trump inherited two wars, and now has begun a third. Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the US Air Force bombed 3 Iranian nuclear sites. Seymour Hersh’s report was correct.

Once again, the performative rhetorical nonsense of a ‘rules-based order’ goes up in smoke. The US used negotiations with Iran as nothing but a smokescreen, and committed an illegal act of aggression. All the rhetoric about ‘international law’ was of course nothing but a performance to attack the US’ enemies, simply to be ignored whenever it came to the US’ own violations.

The world awaits what Iran’s retaliation will look like. Once again the Middle East is on the brink of total disaster, thanks to the United States and Israel, two states that have bought nothing but war, destruction, and misery to this region and have nothing else to offer.

The GCC will be alarmed at the possibility of radiation leaks from the three bombed facilities, potentially putting the lives of millions at risk. BRICS nations must also recognise that this is a precursor to a US attack on China🇨🇳.

Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ is once again proven to be ‘Make Israel Great’, as US Armed Forces personnel will now be in Iran’s crosshairs, potentially dying because Trump wanted to protect the genocidal apartheid state and its war criminal leader.

But eventually, if things go in that direction, we can rise to nuclear, and I think that the people in those countries do not understand the dangers their leaders have been creating.

Putin’s patience is infinite. I’m not sure that he would be prepared to take blow after blow after blow, not hitting back at the source of trouble, and the source of trouble is in Western Europe now, increasingly so.'

On this day in 1960, Patrice Lumumba forms a government and becomes the first Prime Minister of independent Congo.

He had gained prominence as a charismatic and vocal advocate for independence from Belgian colonial rule, which led to his involvement in the Congolese National Movement (MNC).

Upon Congo's independence in June 1960, Lumumba was appointed as the country’s first Prime Minister. He faced immediate crises, thanks to neocolonial meddling in the country, including a mutiny within the army and the secession of the mineral-rich province of Katanga, backed by Belgium, the country which tortured Congo under colonialism for many years. His appeal for Soviet aid to quash the secessionist movement led to Western leaders immediately beginning to plot against Lumumba.

His rule would end in tragedy, when he was captured in Lodi by the troops of coup leader Joseph-Désiré Mobutu. The coup was backed by the US and Belgium, with US President Eisenhower ordering the CIA to ‘eliminate’ Patrice Lumumba.

For daring to oppose Belgian colonialism and US domination of Congo’s natural resources, Lumumba was executed by firing squad on the 17th of January 1961 after being tortured. Before being killed, the colonial conspirators tried to force Lumumba to eat the paper on which his Independence Day speech was written on. After being executed, his body was dissolved in acid.

Lumumba still remains an icon of pan-Africanism to this day, with his image and memory being a rallying point for Africans across the continent against neocolonialism.

An excerpt from Patrice Lumumba’s letter to his wife, his last words before execution:

‘I prefer to die with my head held high, unshakable faith, and the greatest confidence in the destiny of my country rather than live in slavery and contempt for sacred principles.’
