On this day in 1948, David Ben Gurion along with other signatories declared Israel independent from British Administration

Miko Peled, grandson of Avraham Katznelson, one of the signatories to Israel's creation in 1948 had this to say about Israel on GU:

‘There’s a history of living really well and enjoying the abundance and resources of Palestine, at the expense of Palestinians, while Palestinians are languishing in a concentration camp. The Zionists created a segregation so effective, that you can have 2 million people in a concentration camp a few kilometres away, and nobody cares because nobody sees them.’

An example of how Israel was created in 1948:

Around 120 fighters from far-right Zionist paramilitary groups Irgun and Lehi attacked Deir Yassin, a Palestinian village of 600 people near Jerusalem.

Between 107-250 men, women and children were massacred mercilessly. Women were raped and victims were mutilated. The horror of what happened at Deir Yassin quickly spread throughout all of Palestine🇵🇸, and fear of the ruthlessness of the Zionist militias led to many Arabs fleeing for their lives. Deir Yassin became a central point of the Nakba.

Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist military forces attacked major Palestinian cities and destroyed some 530 villages. About 15,000 Palestinians were killed in a series of mass atrocities, including dozens of massacres.

The atrocities committed by Zionist forces led to 700,000 Palestinians being expelled from their homes, or forced to flee.

Donald Trump on Vladimir Putin🇷🇺 not going to Istanbul for negotiations with Ukraine:

Exactly. Why would Vladimir Putin go to Istanbul on Zelensky’s demand when Zelensky himself banned negotiations with him?

It’s likely that Vladimir Putin will only be in the same room as Zelensky when there is a finalised peace deal ready to be signed.

Marco Rubio on the Russia-NATO proxy war in Ukraine:

‘This war is going to end not through a military solution but through a diplomatic one.’

This will only be true if Ukraine concretely drops all notions of NATO membership for Ukraine, declares neutrality, and recognises the realities on the battlefield.

If Zelensky remains delusional, convinced that European support will be enough to hold off the Russian advance, then unfortunately the conflict will end on the battlefield.

The negotiations in Istanbul will show if Zelensky is ready to make peace, or still completely delusional.
