Japan has fallen to the 5th place, Germany to 6th, and the UK to 10th.

🚨WHY TRUMP’S TARIFFS WON’T WORK

On this day in 2002, a triumphant Hugo Chavez returned to Caracas and resumed his role as President of Venezuela🇻🇪 after a US-backed coup.

The short-lived coup regime rescinded many of the reforms Hugo Chavez introduced which benefitted millions of poor Venezuelans, including the 1999 constitution which was approved by popular referendum.

The coup regime was quickly defeated, as loyalists in the Venezuelan military worked to return Chavez to power. Supporters of Chavez and the Bolivarian revolution surrounded the Presidential Palace in Miraflores and demanded his return. The coup regime could not suppress the massive support for Chavez, and in just two days, Chavez resumed his role as President of Venezuela.

On this day in 1943, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began against the Nazi occupation. It was the largest act of Jewish resistance against the Holocaust.

The Warsaw Ghetto’s Jewish population began to militarise after a quarter of a million Jews were sent to die in Treblinka. The uprising began on the 19th of April 1943 after the ghetto refused to surrender to a Nazi police Commander, who then ordered the entire ghetto to be destroyed, block by block.

Faced with certain death, the Jews knew victory against the Nazi killing machine was impossible. Marek Edelman, the last surviving ŻOB commander who died in 2009, said their inspiration to fight was "not to allow the Germans alone to pick the time and place of our deaths".

56,065 Jews were killed or captured, of which approximately 36,000 deported to extermination camps.
