USAID, the notorious regime change arm of Washington is now dead, or at least 'slimmed down' and under State Department control thanks to Trump. Here's a reminder of just one case of its nefarious role in destabilising global south nations:

Wikileaks revealed in 2006 that the US was using a 5-point strategy to destabilise Venezuela🇻🇪 and push regime change against Hugo Chavez:

The cable stated: “In August of 2004, Ambassador outlined the country team’s five-point strategy to guide embassy activities in Venezuela for the period 2004-2006 (specifically, from the referendum to the 2006 presidential elections). The strategy’s focus is: 1) Strengthening Democratic Institutions, 2) Penetrating Chavez’s political base, 3) Dividing Chavismo, 4) Protecting Vital US business, and 5) Isolating Chavez internationally.”

By 2010, external funding for opposition groups in Venezuela reached more than $57 million, mostly from USAID and the NED.

Eva Golinger noted that during its first two years of operations, USAID/OTI had a $10 million budget, which was used to fund approximately 64 opposition groups and programs in Venezuela. The majority of the funding media companies to produce non-stop anti-Chávez propaganda inside Venezuela and an unsuccessful campaign to recall President Hugo Chavez from office in 2010.

Since Hugo Chavez remained popular thanks to his economic agenda of lifting millions out of poverty and raising living standards for the working class, USAID's efforts failed. The organisation then shifted strategy to building an opposition youth movement that would focus on using the power of social media to depose Chavez.

From 2006 to 2010, USAID changed strategy and millions of dollars were spent to fund university programs, workshops, and other events to aid Venezuela's youth in building an anti-Chavez movement.

USAID was nothing more than an arm of regime change and subversion, used to infiltrate societies in the global south, and foment unrest against leaders who either refused to follow Washington's economic orders or did not align with US foreign policy. Millions in the global south will celebrate the end of this organisation which created fake neoliberal revolutions for hire, to destroy real revolutionary movements and governments.
