On this day in 2016, the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro passed away.

In the first 30 months after Fidel Castro and Cuba’s🇨🇺 communists came to power, more classrooms were built in those 30 months than had been built in the previous 30 years.

In the previous 30 years, Cuba had become a de-facto US colony, and a safe haven for mafia criminals from the US. Before Castro’s revolution, US financial interests owned 90% of #Cuba’s🇨🇺 mines, 80% of public utilities, 50% of railways, 40% of sugar production and 25% of Cuba’s bank deposits.

The US’ hatred of Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution stems from the fact that Fidel Castro and his fellow revolutionaries regained Cuba’s sovereignty and ended Cuba’s status as a vassal of the US. This is why the US has imposed its destructive embargo to crush the Cuban Revolution since 1958.
