🤩 New Wave Animation for Progress Bar in Google Play

🤩A new experimental flag updates the progress bar in Google Play with Material You (GM3.1) design and adds a wave animation when loading.

With this update, the progress bar no longer looks static—it now has a dynamic wave effect, making the loading process more visually appealing and unique.

Possible Material Design 3.1 Update?

Google might be working on a broader Material Design 3.1 update, refining animations and UI elements to enhance user experience. The wave animation in the progress bar aligns with Google's focus on fluid, organic motion in UI components. This could be an early glimpse of a more dynamic and expressive Material You evolution.

🤩 Package: com.google.android.finsky.stable

Type: boolean

🤩 Flags:

UseGm31ProgressIndicator__use_gm3_1_progress_indicator_features

UseGm31ProgressIndicator__enable_thumbnail_indicator_wave_anim

UseGm31ProgressIndicator__enable_gm3_1_progress_indicator

❗️The new indicator may not work immediately, for it to be applied, you need to stop the Google Play application several times

🤩 Refreshed Widgets in Google Calendar

🤩 A new experimental flag activates a redesigned version of Google Calendar’s widgets, bringing a cleaner, more compact layout and visual improvements.

🤩 With this flag, the Schedule View widget now displays more information with less wasted space, making better use of the available screen area. The layout feels more efficient without becoming cluttered. Fonts have also been updated to Google Sans Flex, providing a more modern and consistent visual style.

Buttons, like the “add event” (+), have been visually refined and now occupy less space, giving the widget a more balanced appearance. These changes aim to improve readability, usability, and information density, especially on smaller home screens.

So, here is why this channel exists 🤔

A month ago @gms_flags was mistakenly banned, along with several similar projects. I submitted an appeal, but enough time has passed, so most likely the ban will stay

That is why I decided to create a new channel - here I will share all my projects, technical updates, and sometimes a bit of personal context from my work process

Right now I am finishing GMS Insight
This app analyzes added and removed string resources in GMS applications and shows what changes and features appear in new versions. Basically, you can understand what is being prepared in updates before it becomes official

I plan to try releasing it on Google Play. I hope you will be interested in following the release

As for GMS Flags, there are no updates yet, but there is ongoing research on a possible Xposed integration. It is still unclear how many people would actually use it, so in the next post I will make a poll and we will decide if it makes sense to continue

And btw, according to Firebase, the app currently has around 700 active users. I honestly thought there were much fewer 😅

Glad to have you here | @polodarb_dev

🔥 GMS Insight is finally live on Google Play!

After a lot of work (and a few battles with Play Console 😅), I’m happy to share my new app

GMS Insight tracks changes in string resources inside Android apps. It helps you spot new features, hidden updates, and what is being prepared behind the scenes

The idea is simple - to give you early insight into what is coming and what is changing inside apps

👉 Try it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ua.polodarb.gmsinsight

I’d really appreciate any feedback, ideas, or even small UX comments - everything helps improve it

Also, feel free to follow @polodarb_dev - I’ll be posting all updates and improvements there

GMS Flags reaches its end 🫡

We had partial success - the alpha shipped, flags could be toggled. But with every GMS update came more and more restrictions, each one needing to be reversed again. The further it went, the more it turned into an unstable mess - things broke at random, with no logs and no clear reason

We could chase that forever - but it's a war with no real win, so we're choosing to stop

We're not upset - it's been a great experience for all of us. Huge thanks to everyone who stuck around

And a special thanks to @transaero21, our reverse engineer - without him this project would've died a year ago

With Flags done, I want to try turning this channel into GMS Insight. No idea if it'll work out, but if the topic's interesting to you - glad to have you here 👇

So here's what this channel becomes - GMS Insight, and a big update just landed

It's an app where you can actually poke around Google's apps yourself - flip through icons, play Lottie animations, dig through resources and versions, all hands-on

The first versions were just about strings, and honestly - watching a list of strings is boring, even if that's how we caught the leaks. So now it's built to be played with, not just read

The backend re-parses 46 Google apps every few hours, so what you see is always fresh

A taste of what's already sitting inside:
- The new dots animation in the Gemini app
- Google's new Sparkles feature (res)
- An early Gemini agent feature (str) / Agent anims

Meet is bringing gesture controls to XR glasses 🕶

Support for Android XR glasses has been spotted inside the Google Meet app itself - including a full onboarding flow with illustrations. The first-launch screen reads: "Discover new ways to meet with hands-free collaboration and first-person view sharing."

Three gestures for controlling a call:
• Single press - mute/unmute your mic
• Double press - share your camera (first-person view)
• Swipe back - instantly leave the meeting

And one more thing: a new "Gemini is in this call" notice will appear when an AI agent joins - so participants always know when Gemini is listening

*Meet already runs on Android XR headsets - this is specifically about glasses

Digital Wellbeing v1.45 (beta) - Pause Point is here, and it does more than Google demoed

Pause Point, shown at I/O 2026, has landed in the app. Beyond the breathing exercise from the keynote, the build reveals five distinct pause-point types. If you enable more than one, a random type is picked each time you open a flagged app ("One will be shown at random when opening an app"):

Breathe - animated guide, ships with portrait + landscape Lottie
Remind - photo slideshow, with a set of default watercolor illustrations if you don't pick your own
Divert - bounce to 3 pre-selected apps like a journal, workout or puzzle
Plan - set a session limit before you scroll
Reflect - the one Google didn't show: type why you're opening the app and tag a mood

Reflect's moods: Curious, Inspired, Lonely, Productive, Social, Stressed, Tired.

It also answers a question left open at Google I/O - Pause Point re-prompts you mid-scroll, not just on launch:
• "You opened this app because you felt $. Is it still working for you?"
• plus nudges "Time well spent?" and "$ min remaining".

Turning the feature off still requires a phone restart:
"We want to help you stick to your plan, so turning pause point off requires a device restart."

Gboard is quietly building sign language input

The feature is called Signboard(Sign-To-Text): you sign into the camera, and it comes out as text in whatever field you're typing in - like voice typing, but for sign language

Really cool thing for people who actually need it

Recording above - I think this is the first time it's been shown working 😊

GMS Flags 2.0 - Public Beta v1

Two months ago I archived GMS Flags. Honestly none of us really expected a 2.0 to happen - the idea just hit out of nowhere one day, we gave it a shot, and here we are

GMS Flags is back, rebuilt from scratch with a new design and a completely different approach under the hood. It's faster, more stable and far more reliable than the original

How it works
GMS Flags 2.0 is an LSPosed module. Instead of touching GMS or Phenotype, it hooks each app individually and changes flag values inside the app at runtime, no matter what's stored in GMS or Phenotype. That fixes the old pain points:
• flags no longer reset every 24 hours
• the new GMS restrictions don't affect it
• old issues with Google Wallet, wallpapers etc are gone

One tradeoff
Because of this per-app approach, you can't tweak literally every package like before. For now it works with a predefined list of apps, and we'll keep expanding it over time

Server-driven
The app is tightly integrated with our own server, so a lot of things (recommendations, flag lists, micro-hooks and more) can be updated on the fly without shipping a new build

Everything is reversible
Nothing is permanent, any flag or recommendation can be turned off and all overrides can be cleared at any time

Beyond flags
Some features need more than a flag, so the app also supports micro-hooks, small runtime patches curated per app. These are signed by us and only run if GMS Flags is the untouched official build (our own safeguard, nothing to do with Google's Play Integrity). Modified or repackaged copies won't apply them

We've also put a lot of work into analytics, which helps us understand priorities and see what people are actually interested in, so we can focus on what matters most

The collection currently has 14 recommendations, with more on the way

Requirements: root + LSPosed

Heads up: this is the very first public beta, so things will break, some flags may not apply on every app version and a few features are still rough. That's expected, bug reports genuinely help and are very welcome. We'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions

And well, let's see how long GMS Flags 2.0 lasts before Google decides to kill this one too :)
