በቅንጅት በተሰራው ኦፕሬሽን ከ20 በላይ ጠላት የተማረከ ሲሆን ጠላት 3 መኪና የሚሆን ሙት እና ቁስለኛ ጭኖ ፈርጥጧል:: በትናንትናው እለት በደገር ግንባር የተጀመረው ጦርነት ዛሬም ቀጥሎ የዋለ ሲሆን በስተመጨረሻ ፋኖ ከተማይቱን ሙሉ በሙሉ በቁጥጥር ስር አውሏታል::

ከዚህ በተጨማሪ ከደገር ከተማ በቅርብ ርቀት የሚገኙት ቲርቲራ እና ቆርኬ ታዳጊ ከተሞችም በፋኖ ቁጥጥር ስር መዋላቸው ታውቋል::

ባለፉት 24 ሰዓታት በተደረገ ትንቅንቅ በቲርቲራ በኩል የሳጅን አደም አሊ (አባ ናደው) ክፍለ ጦር 1ኛ ሸዋንግዛው ካሳ ተሾመ ሻለቃ ጠላትን ሲያስፈረጥጠው ቆርኬ ላይ ደግሞ የዚሁ ክፍለ ጦር አካል የሆነችው 2ተኛ እንድሪስ ተሾመ ሻለቃ ታሪክ ሰርታለች:: የፋኖዎችን ምት መቋቋም ያቃተው ጠላት ከቲርቲራ ጎራ ወርዶ እየፈረጠጠ ተጉዞ ቀነሶ መንደር ሲደርስ አቶ ሁሴን ከማል የተባለ ገበሬን በአጨዳ ላይ ሳለ እረሽኖታል::

በቆርኬ ግንባር 17 የጠላት ኃይል የተመታ ሲሆን 5ቱ ወዲያውኑ ሲሞቱ 12ቱ ቁስለኛ ሆነዋል::

TENSIONS IN THE HORN OF AFRICA ESCALATE AMID ONGOING CONFLICT IN ETHIOPIA...

These violations, prohibited under international humanitarian and human rights law, likely amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The security and human rights situation in Ethiopia, and the broader Horn of Africa, has sharply deteriorated amid recurrent and escalating conflicts, placing already vulnerable populations at increased risk of grave abuses.

This deterioration is starkly evident in the Amhara region, where conflict between the Fano, an ethnic Amhara militia, and the federal government has intensified since April 2023, alongside reports of grave human rights abuses.

An 18 November BBC investigation documented thousands of cases of sexual violence between July 2023 and May 2025, with victims ranging from eight to 65 years old.

Nearly half of victims tested positive for sexually transmitted infections, and many were left pregnant and deeply traumatized.

From 43 health facilities, representing only about four percent of all health facilities in Amhara, the BBC recorded 2,697 reported cases of rape, with children under 18 accounting for 45 percent of all cases.

Despite these alarming figures, the true scope is likely far greater. Sexual violence is largely underreported due to fear of stigma and reprisals.

Restrictions on access have further hindered independent monitoring. However, the BBC’s findings corroborate evidence from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and international human rights groups.

Ongoing extrajudicial killings, indiscriminate drone and air strikes on populated areas, destruction of civilian property – including homes and health facilities – and mass arbitrary arrests have also been documented in Amhara.

These violations, prohibited under international humanitarian and human rights law, likely amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Grave violations in Amhara are unfolding against a backdrop of unresolved political grievances and rising regional tensions. The underlying drivers of the conflict remain unaddressed, including unimplemented provisions of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement that ended the 2020–2022 war in Tigray, Amhara and Afar.

Meanwhile, federal forces that allied with neighboring Eritrea during the war are now entangled in escalating tensions fueled in part by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s ambitions to secure port access for landlocked Ethiopia.

Both the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments have exchanged increasingly hostile rhetoric, raising concerns of renewed conflict. These regional frictions, combined with political fragmentation in Tigray and accusations of factions aligning with either Eritrea or the federal government, have further deteriorated the security situation.

The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect Horn of Africa expert, Sarah Hunter, said, “This volatile environment risks igniting renewed violence in regions where communities are still recovering from past atrocities. Addressing this crisis demands urgent diplomatic engagement and principled action grounded in prevention, the protection of civilians and accountability for abuses past and present.”

UN Warning Over Ethiopia’s Fragile Peace as New Tensions Emerge in the North

Human rights organisations have warned that Ethiopia’s fragile post-war calm is at risk of unravelling, amid renewed political tensions, stalled accountability efforts, and fresh accusations exchanged between Addis Ababa and Asmara.

In a report released on 23 November, Human Rights Watch said the 2022 African Union–brokered truce that halted the two-year conflict in Tigray faces “a real risk of collapse.” The group said that although the cessation of hostilities reduced active fighting between the federal government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), the monitoring mechanism has failed to address ongoing violations, allowing attacks on civilians to continue in areas of northern Ethiopia not covered by the agreement.

The report noted that Ethiopian authorities have not credibly prosecuted those responsible for grave abuses committed between 2020 and 2022, a period marked by mass atrocities, displacement and the destruction of critical infrastructure. It criticised the UN Human Rights Council for ending its Ethiopia investigation mandate in 2023 following what it described as pressure from Addis Ababa, despite the near-halt of local accountability initiatives.

The organisation urged regional and international actors—including the African Union, Kenya, South Africa, the United States and Ethiopia’s international partners—to mobilise urgently to prevent renewed violations. It called on the AU to issue public reports on truce violations, including attacks on civilians.

The warning comes as tensions rise between Ethiopia and Eritrea, following renewed disputes over access to the Red Sea. The developments coincide with intermittent clashes between federal-aligned militias and Tigray Defence Forces, and with the TPLF submitting a memorandum to the UN Security Council and the United States alleging drone strikes by Ethiopia’s national army. The group accused the government of undermining the Pretoria Agreement by obstructing implementation and continuing abuses against Tigrayans.

Addis Ababa, in turn, has accused Eritrea of arming anti-government militias, including Amhara Fano fighters and TPLF units. Eritrea’s Information Minister has strongly denied the allegations, calling them an attempt by Ethiopia to justify preparations for a new conflict.

Analysts and regional observers say that while the 2022 truce ended active hostilities, significant provisions—including independent investigations, the return of displaced communities and unhindered access for rights monitors—remain unfulfilled. Specialists warn that the absence of accountability risks fuelling further abuses in other conflict-affected regions such as Amhara and Oromia.

Experts also argue that the international community must remain engaged despite competing global crises, noting that previous UN findings concluded there was “reasonable ground to believe” that both Ethiopian and Eritrean forces had committed war crimes or crimes against humanity during the conflict.

With political grievances unresolved and security incidents persisting, rights groups say Ethiopia’s northern regions could once again slide into cycles of violence unless urgent efforts are made to enforce the peace agreement and ensure justice for past atrocities.

"ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ ተማሪዎቹ እንዲለቀቁ በደብዳቤ ብትጠይቅም እስካሁን ምላሽ አልተገኝም። አፍነው የወሰዱት የሚሊሻ አባላቱ በወሰዱት በእያንዳንዱ ተማሪ 7 ሺህ ብር እየጠየቁ ይገኛሉ" በማለት አንድ ስሜ አይጠቀስ ያሉ እና ጉዳዩን በቅርበት የሚያውቁ ምንጫችን ጠቁመዋል።

ሚድያችን የደረሰው ተጨማሪ መረጃ እንደሚያሳየው ታግተው የተወሰዱት ተማሪዎች ከቲንፋዝ ደብረ በረከት ቅዱስ ጊዮርጊስ ደብር ሶስት፣ ከፒያሳ መንበረ ንግስት ቅድስት ኪዳነ ምህረት ደብር አምስት፣ ከተማው ውስጥ በሚገኙ ሌሎች ደብር የሚማሩ አስራ አምስት ናቸው።

"በአጠቃላይ ከሃያ ሶስት በላይ ተማሪዎች ተወስደዋል። አሁን ላይ በከተማው ውስጥ በሚገኝ አንድ ቀበሌ ውስጥ ታስረው እንደሚገኙ ከቤተክርስቲያን አካባቢ ሰምተናል" በማለት ሌላኛ የከተማው ነዋሪ ተናግረዋል።

ባሳለፍነው ሀሙስ ከተያዙት ተማሪዎች መካከል አንደኛው አርብ ለማምለጥ ሲሞክር ከሚሊሻ በተተኮሰበት ጥይት ተመትቶ ከፒያሳ ወደ ቲንፋዝ በሚወስደው መንገድ ላይ ህይወቱ ማለፉ ታውቋል።

"ተማሪዎቹ ወደየት ይሂዱ? ገጠር ቤተሰብ ጋር ሲሄዱ ፋኖ ይወስዳቸዋል፣ ከተማ ሲሆኑ ሚሊሻ ይወስዳቸዋል። ፖሊሶች ሲጠየቁ እኛ የለንበትም፣ የምናውቀው ነገር የለም ይላሉ" በማለት ምንጫችን ተናግረዋል።

በሌላ በኩል አዲስ አበባ ከተማ ውስጥ የሚኖሩ ኤርትራውያን ስደተኞች ታፍሰው ከተወሰዱ በኋላ ነፃ ለመሆን እስከ 1 ሺህ ዶላር እየተጠየቁ መሆኑ ሚድያችን ከተያዥ ቤተሰቦች ሰምቷል።

"ከአሁን ቀደም ወጣቶቹን የደህነነት ስጋት ነው፣ አጣርተው እንለቃለን ብለው ይለቋቸው ነበር። አሁን ግን እስከ አንድ ሺሕ ዶላር እየተጠየቅን ነው። ገቢው ለማነው? ምክንያቱስ ምንድነው? ፖሊስ ጣቢያዎች በገንዘብ ሊቀጡ ይችላሉ ወይ? የሚቀጡትስ በዜግነታቸው ነው ወይ?" በማለት ጥያቄ ያቁርባሉ።

በተመሳሳይ በአዲስ አበባ በአዲሱ ሸገር ሲቲ ፉሪና ኬንቴሪ አካባቢ ወጣቶች እየተያዙ የቀድሞ ፍፁም በላይ ሆቴል እና ወጣቶች ማዕከል ውስጥ እየታሰሩ መሆኑም ታውቋል። ብዙዎች ከክፍለ ሀገር ስራ ፍለጋ የመጡ መሆናቸው የታወቁ ሲሆን ቤተሰብ ለማስለቅ ከ30 ሺህ ብር እስከ 50 ሺህ ብር እየተጠየቁ መሆኑን ሰምተናል።

አገዛዙ በጎንደር ከተማ የሰላም ጥሪ በሚል ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ በአስገዳጅ ሁኔታ እንዲካሄድ አድርጓል።

የከተማዋን የሙስሊም ማህበረሰብ ደግሞ ለዛሬ ህዳር 25/2018 ዓ.ም በጧቱ በመስጂድ እንዲገኙ ካደረገ በኋላ በአስገዳጅ ሁኔታ ወደ አደባባይ እንዲወጡ አድርጓቸዋል።

በዚህ ሰልፍ በማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ተፅዕኖ ፈጣሪዎች እና ብዙ ተከታይ ያላቸዉ ግለሰቦች እንዲጋበዙ ተደርገዋል።"ከተማዋ ሰላም ናት" የሚል የማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ዘመቻ ሊጀመር እንደሆነ እና ብዙ ተከታይ ላላቸዉ የማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ባለቤቶች ደግሞ ረብጣ ገንዘብ እንደማከፈላቸዉ ቃል ተገብቶላቸዋል።

በጎንደር ከተማ የብልፅግና ተወካዮች ግን በማህበረሰቡ የማፈፀሙ ወንጀሎችን ለመደበቅ አስገድዶ ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ እና በማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ብዙ ተከታዮች ባለቸዉ ግለሰቦች ለማስተባበል ሞክሯል።
