GES UPDATES

OUTCOME OF NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (NEC) MEETING HELD ON 27TH SEPTEMBER 2023 AT NAGRAT LYCEUM ACCRA

• A Press conference was held calling on Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to revert the school calendar to the THREE TERM ACADEMIC YEAR which starts in September and ends in July the following year.

• The current system is affecting the health of teachers. No rest for a teacher, as one batch of students (Form One) go on break and another returns (Form Two) to school, the teacher is still in school. THIS CANNOT CONTINUE, THE HEALTH OF THE TEACHER IS IMPORTANT, IT CAN NOT BE SACRIFICED.

• Central Region’s Secretariat has been completed and fully furnished.

• Greater Accra Regional Secretariat and Hostel project is progressing steadily. It has the Regional Secretariat, 45 guest rooms, 200 Seat Capacity Conference Hall, and a canteen. It is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2024.

• Eastern Region has acquired their land for the Regional Secretariat and currently awaiting clearance from the Land's Commission for the contractor to move to the site.

• The increase in the minimum fund contribution was effected in August 2023

• *NAGRAT 25TH ANNIVERSARY* celebration would be launched in December 2023. It shall be a year-long celebration and climaxed in October 2024. Every region shall celebrate it. Details would be communicated in due course.

• GCB Bank and NAGRAT agreement shall soon be ready. Members would be notified when it is completed.

• The *Ladies of Excellence* *cloth* is ready and has been sent to all regions. All are encouraged to patronize it.

• *NAGRAT EXCELLENCE TIER 3* forms are out. Members are encouraged to join this pension scheme for a comfortable retirement. *IT IS TAX FREE!!!*

• The distribution of the Laptops for the Basic Schools (Primary Section) is currently ongoing. All Regions will be covered in due course

• Car maintenance allowance has been paid to the Districts; Teachers are to ensure they take monies they signed for.

• Ghana Teacher Prize 2023 shall take place in Western Region Takoradi from 3rd to 5th October, 2023.
