To be more specific, after this month, we'll be transitioning our event details ON OUR WEBSITE. This way, you don't need to log-on or have a Discord account to see what's going on around you! Private links and RSVP forms will STILL be in our respective platforms as we want only the members of our community and hubs with access to these links.

It's been over a month since FWA and wow what a month it has been. We've had approximately 100 new members join GeorgiaFurs since FWA, some of our activity metrics have nearly doubled, and holy heckin events! We have eight of them this month!
This past month has been crazy busy for a lot of us, especially in the GeorgiaFurs staff. Many of the announced plans are well underway and there's still so much more to do. Our current staff has been doing an excellent job, but we can only do so much. Because of this, we have decided to once again open our staff applications!
We are especially interested in staff members who are active on Discord over Telegram. We are also interested in staff members who can bring specialized skills to the team, such as web development, graphics, and social media management. If you're at least 18 years old and think you'd be a good fit for our team, then go ahead and fill out the staff application here:

Howdy! This message was sent to our Discord members, but it might as well be sent here for everyone's knowledge and awareness as it may happen within Telegram as well:
We'll make this quick and succinct: it looks like some of our members got their accounts hacked and now some of these accounts are going around trying to spread out the hack. The message can be similar to the attached image.
If you received a message from one of our members (or hell, from anyone you don't know) and they ask you to join a server or their personal server--it may be an attempt at you. Don't click on any request to join a server unless you are 100%, absolutely, certainly expecting one from them. While you're at it, make sure you enable the highest security for your account, turn on 2-Factor Authentication and/or SMS Authentication, and DO NOT EVER OPEN LINKS FROM ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW, EVEN IF IT'S FROM A MUTUAL SERVER!! DO NOT SCAN UNKNOWN QR CODES!!
The best defense against these attacks is to be aware, cautious, and prevent them from happening as best we can by letting others know about it.
If you feel your account was hacked, please contact Discord's(or Telegram's if appropriate) support to get things recovered; otherwise, you'll need to recreate your account from scratch. If you receive a message from someone in our group and you suspect they've been hacked, please let one of our admins know so we can deal with them accordingly. Let's keep this community safe.

🌎OUR WEBSITE HAS BEEN UPDATED!
Finally! Our website has been updated so that all of our event details will now be posted there to make it easier for all platforms and devices to view and read the announcements. With it, we are also able to show different events that happen in different cities, such as Augusta, Savannah, and --of course--Atlanta!
We're hoping to get more events for different cities such as Columbus and Athens, but we only know so much! It's up to you to let us know where they happen, what group is making them happen, so we can promote those events too! We wanna try and reach as many people as we can in one consistent way possible and, thanks to this, we're one step closer to those!

We'll be slowly changing the way we announce on Telegram to be concise and more specific to Telegram. We will still be announcing the events just like we're doing it below. We won't throw everyone in the deep-end; let's learn and adapt together!

Heya GeorgiaFurs ! A sort of mini announcements in regards to tomorrow's meet and future meets.
✨FWAffice Board Game Meet-up

A few important reminders: we will be requiring masks to be worn at the event! Be sure to bring your vax card for verification as well!
COVID is still a concern for us. Even as early as last week we've had reports of some of our members tested positive shortly after one of our meets. Remember, that is is still a huge risk to do these in-person events and that you use your better judgement when attending: wash your hands, use hand-sanitizer, wear your masks, and test yourselves after such big events if you feel ill. As the weeks and months continue on, we'll continue to monitor the infection rates and what the CDC recommends, as well as local ordinations. We'll adjust our meets accordingly and keep you guys updated.

Previously, we've had a chat for our folks who may go to MP. We'll consider making one again so we can keep in touch, if people have an interest in it! I can manage one for y'all and we can see about making it a regular thing for any GAF member who are going to cons.

🍑 GAF MiniCon Update 🍑
Heya floofs! I have some news for everyone regarding the GeorgiaFurs MiniCon, and unfortunately it's not the news I was hoping to bear.
It has been decided that the GAF MiniCon will be delayed. Don't worry, it's not being cancelled. However, we felt a bit too rushed trying to put this event together for you all and we want to make sure we have ample time to make the MiniCon an experience that you all will love.
With that being said, keep an eye out for future updates! The MiniCon WILL be happening, it just won't be happening as soon as we'd hoped.

Panels? Artists Vending? Fursuits? Games? Yeah, we got it all, and it's coming in about a week!
If you're still on the fence, don't wait! We want to be able to get a proper headcount days prior so we can better prepare the space for you. This is a great opportunity to start helping the community directly as we start this new edition of GAF that, hopefully, can grow into something great in this year.
We got a lot of things planned for you this year, and it all starts from the 28th and on! So, if you'd like first dibs on what's to come, come through! Soon, we'll have an itinerary so you'll know what to expect at this minicon, so sit tight! And I'll see y'all there~

We invite you to our very first special event of the year:
🍑GeorgiaFurs MiniCon
If you're a furry in Georgia and are looking for something to do on January 28th, this event is for you! We'll have fursuit games, board games and video games--as well as panels and our first artist alley of the year. All the fun activities you may find at a convention, but in a miniature form.
A special thanks to Furry Weekend Atlanta for providing a community space for us! They are also going to be opening their Con Store for anyone looking to obtain some FWA merchandise.
All proceedings will go towards FWA and, in turn, may help GAF provide bigger, better events of many varieties. Come by and support your local community! We hope to see you there!
We're also excited to announce that the Mini Con is now open for all! We invite everyone from any group within the state to join in, if they'd like! We want to open the doors and try new things and meet & greet locals of all sorts of walks. So come through, if you'd like!

Howdy GeorgiaFurs!
I bring the unfortunate news that we were unable to secure the venue for Battle & Brew in proper time--given the current form given out in the interest form, plus the "all hands on deck" for Furry Weekend Atlanta, it's cutting it a bit close and we don't wish to enact on a big promise without assurance. The GAF team will keep conversations going with the venue to see what sort of events, meet-ups, and allowances we'll have at Battle & Brew. We're sorry for the inconvenience if you were looking forward to this event.
However, this is not going to mean we won't be pursuing other activities outside of the FWAffice--we'll be changing our strategy a bit! Currently, we're looking for another activity to promote as early as possible and give you ample time to RSVP for it. We'll see if we can aim for early March and give you ample time to prepare for this event!
Keep a look out for that event, y'all! Those in our chats will receive the RSVP first.
