An Arizona woman has been hospitalized after being stung more than 75 times by bees during a family photo shoot.
She saved her two children by putting them in a car and taking most of the bites. Rescuers were able to evacuate the children from the car by applying foam to calm the bees.

Bees use Stinging Nettle to naturally protect against Verroa...
we added stinging nettles to our beehives.
nettle leaves contain formic & oxalic acid. both of which are manufactured commercially and sold to beekeepers as pest management tools for varroa mites.
We are returning to the remedies in our backyard and leaning into our honeybees natural instincts - hoping to holistically support their natural immune systems and naturally strengthening disease resistance!

I caught my first swarm with Russ!
Russ had been sending me pictures of swarms all season and I was finally able to join him for this one!
When a hive gets too large for the box theyβre in, the queen will leave and take half the colony with her. While the bees search for a new home, they will swarm in trees or on posts like this one. So it was a perfect opportunity to give the bees a new home in a nuke box.
Since they donβt have a permanent home or honey to protect, theyβre super docile which is why we were able to hold them without getting stung.π

π Bees are gentle and non-aggressive insects that prefer to mind their own business rather than interact with humans. They sting solely when they feel directly threatened, trapped, or when they are defending their hive.

Giant honeybees ward off predators by flipping their abdomens in perfect sync, sending mesmerising shimmering waves across their open nest. The rapid patterns are thought to scramble hornets' vision, making it hard to lock onto any single bee.

Dandelion blossoms make a great lemonade!
Know before you mow! Spring is in the air, and the beautiful and powerful Dandelion blossoms can be plucked and brewed into a delicious lemonade!
Kathiβs Recipe from our Dandelion Zine:
Harvest the beautiful flowers on a lovely sunny day. Pluck about 4 cups of flowers and place them into a 1/2 gallon jar. Add the juice and zest of 3-4 lemons to the jar. Pour 1/4 cup each of maple syrup and honey into the jar and then fill the jar with hot water. Weβll let this steep all day and place it in the fridge before bed, so itβs chilled and ready to drink the next day. You can strain out the dandelion flowers or leave them in!
