Contact - info@genepool.one
Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 6.96
Blocks Allocated : 9
Blocks Produced : 9
Blocks on Chain: 9
Luck* : 129%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 9
A good epoch with all nine allocated blocks made and the pool has an estimated nine for the next epoch as well.
Pool performance is great, we are checking out costs for increasing memory on the relays for the new node.
Nothing else to report so see you in five days for a (very) short update.
*– Blocks are allocated randomly each epoch based upon total stake a pool has just like a lottery. Luck refers to how many blocks were allocated to a pool against the expected blocks that the pools should produce. Some epochs (5 day periods) you will be allocated more blocks and some less but over time it should even out.

Epoch 470

Contact - info@genepool.one
Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 4.95
Blocks Allocated : 5
Blocks Produced : 5
Blocks on Chain: 4
Luck* : 101%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 3
Sorry! Huge apologies for no updates for multiple epochs, it is not good enough and we know it so we will put that behind us and move forward and do better. Many thanks to one of our delegators for reaching out to us to check what was up and that the pool was still operating.
The pool has been operating fine - yes we lost some stake - but that does not affect rewards but what does affect rewards is a sub-par allocation of blocks which happens occasionally due to the random nature of block allocation.
Lets go through the missing epochs below:
Epoch Allocated Produced Luck (Allocation)
463 4 4 63%
464 3 3 51%
465 5 5 84%
466 5 5 84%
467 6 6 102%
468 4 4 80%
469 1 1 20%
460 5 4 100%
We can see here that for these last eight epochs in only two have we been allocated what was expected and all the rest less than expected.
Well maybe that was karma for not giving out updates so hopefully after the next epoch our luck will change*. The reason why we lost one block was a slot battle **.
The latest Cardano community digest is here and a reminder the next Cardano summit is in Dubai, October 23rd-24th see here.
Regarding the pool maintenance we have to renew the KES Keys and we have scheduled this for tomorrow. Other than that things are going smoothly except for the block allocation which could be better for sure.
That’s about it for this update and we will be back with a short update tomorrow.

So this epoch we produced all the available blocks (three) and for the next epoch we have an estimated allocation of seven blocks which for the first time in a long while is above expectations 🎉
We have rotated the KES keys which needs to be done every approx ninety days and so we will keep an eye on the next block to be produced to confirm the keys are fine.
That’s the super small update since yesterday and we will be back at the end of the epoch with an update.

A nice epoch at last for the pool with seven blocks allocated and seven produced and for the next epoch we have an estimated five blocks.
No problems with the KES key rotation new blocks were produced with no issue, other than this the pool ran well and we are happy with the performance. There is a new node 8.9.0 and we will be looking to upgrade to this in the next three epochs.
Not a lot else to report - Charles came out with a new video on scalability so perhaps that may be of interest. If you have an hour to spare you can see it here.
The latest weekly development report can been seen here.
That’s it for now keep staking and we appreciate all of you who continue to stick with us - many thanks!

A decent epoch with five blocks produced but the bad news is for the next epoch it is estimated we will be given only one block. This is just how the protocol works and you win some and lose some but should work out even at the end of the day over a long period of time.
This epoch the pool ran as expected and there were no problems.
We are back at base and we will look into some of the backlog we have over the next few weeks. Nothing serious, updates to the OS and the cardano node are needed again as the latest release is 8.9.2.
A pretty interesting video from Charles dropped a few days ago which can be seen here.
Until the end of the next epoch have a great five days and we will return with a short update.

Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 4.86
Blocks Allocated : 5
Blocks Produced : 5
Blocks on Chain: 5
Luck* : 103%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 1
A decent epoch with five blocks produced but the bad news is for the next epoch it is estimated we will be given only one block. This is just how the protocol works and you win some and lose some but should work out even at the end of the day over a long period of time.
This epoch the pool ran as expected and there were no problems.
We are back at base and we will look into some of the backlog we have over the next few weeks. Nothing serious, updates to the OS and the cardano node are needed again as the latest release is 8.9.2.

Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 4.86
Blocks Allocated : 1
Blocks Produced : 1
Blocks on Chain: 1
Luck* : 21%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 7
Nice that epoch is behind us with only a single block allocated which was produced to the chain and for better news we have seven blocks allocated for the next epoch.
It was a quiet epoch for the pool with it running well.
We have been working a bit on our infrastructure this past epoch and we have made some progress but more to go. There always seems to be one job crossed off our list and two added but that is life. We will look into introducing a third relay on one of our servers and try this with docker to see how it looks.

Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 4.86
Blocks Allocated : 7
Blocks Produced : 7
Blocks on Chain: 7
Luck* : 144%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 7
A good epoch for all with seven blocks allocated and produced on chain. We also have another above expectation allocation for the next epoch of seven blocks again.
Pool ran well no drama.
We still have a to-do list here and as we reorganise some of our infrastructure these are on hold for a while longer.
Nothing else to report so until the end of the next epoch have a great five days and we will return with a short update.

A very nice epoch with an above average allocation of blocks (seven) and all were produced onto the chain and even better for the next epoch we have an estimated eight blocks.
The pool ran very smoothly and there were no issues during the epoch.
Nothing else to report so until the end of the next epoch have a great five days and we will return with a short update.

Again a very good epoch with eight blocks allocated and produced. For the next epoch we have an estimated two blocks allocated.
Nothing to report this epoch, very boring, but you can read the latest Community Digest for something more entertaining.
So until the end of the next epoch have a great five days and we will return with a short update.

Expected number of blocks (based on delegation/stake): 4.81
Blocks Allocated : 2
Blocks Produced : 2
Blocks on Chain: 2
Luck* : 42%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 7
Another epoch down and we produced the two blocks allocated. We have a decent seven blocks estimated for the forthcoming epoch.
The pool ran well with one issue as a relay went down because of an issue with the server provider but that is why you should have at least one backup relay in a different location. Other relay was fine and pool carried on running until the issue was resolved. Nothing else to report.
So until the end of the next epoch have a great five days and we will return with a short update.
