“The pleasures have vanished and been followed by sorrow.
The urge has ended and resulted in distress.
They enjoyed themselves for a short while and are punished for a long time.
They indulged in luxuries and it resulted in a painful torment.
They became drunk with the intoxication of that desire and did not regain consciousness from it until they were in the abode of the tormented.
They were tranquilized by the heedlessness and didn’t wake up until they were in the abode of the doomed ones.
They regret it all —by Allāh– to the furthest degree at a time when regret is of no avail and they cried over what they used to do with tears of blood.”

العين تدمع والقلب يحزن ولانقول إلا مايرضي ربنا
اللهم نصرك الذي وعد عبادك المؤمنين
The eyes tear up, the heart grieves, and we only say what pleases our Rabb. O Allah, grant your promised victory to your believing servants.

They killed the prophets, disbelieved in their prophet Musa, and betrayed him. Allah sent upon them several punishments; He scattered them on the earth, transformed some of them into monkeys, sent upon them Saihah (torment – awful cry, etc.), and gave power to oppressive kings over them.
Even our Prophet ﷺ was not safe from them - they tried to kill and poison him, as well as the two times they betrayed the Muslimeen.
And today is another black dot in their dirty history that’s filled with betrayal and slander.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
“A servant takes what is forbidden for only two reasons:
The first is having bad expectations of his Lord, thinking that if he obeys and prefers Him, He will not grant him something better and lawful than it.
The second is knowing that whoever leaves something for Allah's sake, He will replace it with something better, but his desires overcome his patience and passions overtake his intellect.
So the first stems from a deficiency in his knowledge, And the second from a deficiency in his reason and insight.
Yahya ibn Mu'adh said: “When Allah gathers a person's heart in supplication, He does not reject him.”
Ibn al-Qayyim says:
When his heart is focused, his need is sincere, his poverty is evident, and his hope is strong - his supplication is hardly rejected.”

Taqwa & Good Character
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:
“The Prophet ﷺ established a relationship between the fear of Allāh and good character, because fearing Allāh improves the relation between the servant and Allāh, and good character improves the relation between a person and others. Therefore, fearing Allāh makes it possible for Allāh to love him, and good manners makes it possible for people to love that person.”

Imaam an-Nawawee said: “So the first thing which he should begin with is the memorisation of the mighty Qur’an,which is the most important of the branches of knowledge. And the Salaf did not used to teach hadeeth or fiqh, except to one who had memorised the Qur’an. So when he has memorised it, then let him beware of pre-occupying himself from it with hadeeth, or fiqh, or other things, to the extent that it leads him to forget anything from the Qur’an, or makes that likely.”
