Painting the Nails Red and Growing Them Long:

The fourth is the other ugly custom, which has crept in from the profligate women of Europe and affected many Muslim women, and that is to paint their nails with red varnish, which is nowadays known as "manicure", in addition to which, some of them grow their nails long-—and some young men may do the same thing -even though this constitutes a changing of Allāh's creation and incurs Allāh's Curse upon the one who does it, as we have seen earlier. It also entails imitation of the disbelieving women, which is forbidden in numerous traditions, including the words of the Prophet (ﷺ): "He who imitates any people [in their actions] is considered to be one of them."^100
It is also in conflict with the fitrah (way or religion):

"[Adhere to] the fitrah of Allāh upon which He has created [all] people."

[al-Rum (30): 30]

And the Prophet (ﷺ ) said:
"Five [actions] are from the fitrah: circumcision, cutting the pubic hair (and in another narration:
"shaving the pubic area" trimming the moustache, trimming the fingernails and plucking the underarm hair."^101

And Anas (radiy Allahu 'anhu) said: "We were given a time limit (and in another version: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ ) imposed a time limit on us') with regard to trimming the moustache, shaving the pubic hair, plucking the armpit hair and clipping the nails and we were not to leave it for more than forty days."^102

Fatwa no. 21207

Q: About thirty years ago, my mother fell into a deep sleep while breastfeeding my one-month old sister who suffocated and died. What should my mother do? May Allah grant you success!

A: If the reality is as you have mentioned, your mother has to offer the Kaffarah (expiation) of involuntary manslaughter as she caused the baby's death. The Kaffarah is to free a believing slave. If she can not afford this, she has to fast for two consecutive months (sixty days).

Q 1: What is meant by Riddah (apostasy)?

A: Riddah is defined as an act of giving up the Din (religion) of Islam and converting to Kufr (disbelief), it takes place by words, actions, doubts, or abandonment.

Riddah may take the form of spoken words, such as by speaking blasphemy or insulting the Messenger (ﷺ).

It may take the form of actions, such as by prostrating to the Cross or an idol, slaughtering for the sake of the occupants of graves, or mistreating the Mus-haf (Arabic Qur'an).

It may take place by having doubts. A Murtad (apostate) may have doubts about the truthfulness of Islam or the Prophet (ﷺ).

It may take the form of abandonment, such as by forsaking Islam. A Murtad neither learns Islam nor acts according to its teachings.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little."

Allāh, Exalted be He said in the Clear Qur’ān:

فَسَقَىٰ لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍۢ فَقِيرٌۭ

{“My Lord! I am truly in ˹desperate˺ need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.”}¹

Surah al-Qasas, al-āyah 24

Shaykh Muhammad bin Sa’eed Raslān [may Allāh preserve him] said:

‘Some of the people of knowledge have said whomsoever desires to get married let him recite this [supplication] abundantly for Allāh, Blessed and Exalted be He, said thereafter it:’

فَجَآءَتْهُ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا تَمْشِى عَلَى ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢ

{Then one of the two women came to him, walking bashfully.}

Surah al-Qasas, al-āyah 25

Translation: Authentic Quotes

¹. Moses left Egypt with no food, money, or even shoes. He was completely worn out by the time he arrived in Midian. After he prayed for help, Allah gave him a wife, a job, and a home on the same day.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“From the very moment of creation, mankind is on a journey. He Is a traveler and is not allowed to halt except when he reaches either Paradise or Hellfire. The wise one among them is the one who knows that traveling is based on hardship and danger. It is usually hard to seek pleasures and relief during it, which are to be acquired after it is completed.

Every footstep and every moan made during this journey will not stop him. It is proven that the traveler is preparing supplies, which will take him to his final end. And if he halts, sleeps, or rests, he is doing so while preparing himself to complete his journey.”

"The Muslim is a stranger amongst the non-Muslims.
The Mu'min (believer) is a stranger amongst the Muslims.
The Muhsin (striving worshipper) is a stranger amongst the Mu'mineen."
