🇦🇺 Devastating Flooding in Taree, New South Wales

🌧 On May 21, 2025, the town of Taree in New South Wales experienced catastrophic flooding as the Manning River surged to a record 6.4 meters, surpassing the previous high from 1929. The flooding has isolated almost 50,000 residents and inundated more than 23,000 properties across the Mid North coast.

Emergency services carried out 130 rescues, mainly in Taree, Wingham and Glenthorne. The rescues included airlifting families trapped on rooftops.

Authorities have ordered evacuations. Additional rainfall of up to 200 mm is forecast in the coming days, which could worsen the situation.

Residents are urged to follow official guidance and prioritize safety as emergency services continue their efforts.
