๐จ๐ฆ Powerful Landslide in Sainte-Monique, Quebec (Canada)
๐ On the morning of May 21, 2025, a major landslide occurred in the Sainte-Monique area of central Quebec. The landslide, measuring approximately 760 meters long, 150 meters wide, and up to 24 meters deep, destroyed one house (which was unoccupied at the time) and cut off a rural road.
๐ Nearby residents were evacuated. The cause is still under investigation, but recent heavy rainfall (up to 50 mm) combined with clay-rich soil and a steep slope may have triggered the collapse. Authorities warn of a risk of further expansion of the landslide zone.
๐จ Emergency crews and Red Cross representatives are working on site. Officials urge residents to report any signs of ground instability, such as cracks or falling trees.
