🇮🇩 Tragedy in Indonesia: Deadly Quarry Collapse Claims 14 Lives

🌧 In recent weeks, heavy rainfall in various parts of the world has triggered landslides and slope failures, disrupting transportation routes and tragically resulting in loss of life. Indonesia has not been spared—floodwaters have already caused significant infrastructure damage across several regions. Now, another disaster has struck.

🚨 On May 30, 2025, a deadly collapse occurred at a quarry on Mount Kuda in Cirebon Regency, West Java. At least 14 people lost their lives, and 8 workers remain missing beneath the rubble.

According to reports, over two dozen workers were present when the collapse happened. Rescue teams have recovered 10 bodies and managed to save 12 individuals, though one later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. At least five of the injured remain in critical condition.

⛔️ Authorities indicate the quarry had long been under scrutiny for safety violations. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, who had previously called for action, has ordered the site’s closure along with four other operations in the region.

⚠️ Unsafe mining conditions continue to endanger lives in Indonesia, raising fresh concerns about enforcement and oversight in vulnerable areas.
