π₯ On July 22, a large wildfire broke out in the Feneos area of Corinthia, located in the northeastern Peloponnese, about 15 km southwest of Athens. Fueled by extreme heat and strong winds, the flames rapidly spread through a dense pine and fir forest.
ππ¨ The firefighting effort involved 185 personnel, 56 fire engines, 10 water-dropping helicopters, two surveillance helicopters, and drones. Additional water tankers and equipment were brought in from neighboring municipalities. Residents and tourists in at-risk areas received evacuation alerts via SMS, instructing them to follow designated evacuation routes.
βοΈ Authorities declared a state of emergency, and evacuations were underway in some nearby villages.
