◾️The Decree of Allāh in regards to the afflictions◾️

Our Shaykh, Al Hāfidh, Al-Muhaddith, Abū 'Amr 'Abdulkareem Al-Hajoori - may Allah preserve him - was asked:

📩 Question:

How do we reconcile between the two verses:

{And if some good reaches them, they say, "This is from Allah," but if some evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you (O Muhammad SAW)." Say: "All things are from Allah,}
⁃ {Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself.}

📝 Answer:

The way the reconcile between the two is that the first ayah, {Say: All things are from Allāh}, is like the ayah {Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments)}

So whatever afflicts you from good or evil, then it is all by the decree of Allāh.

As for the statement of Allāh, {Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself.}, meaning it is because of you [i.e because of your sins].

So whatever you have done from sins, disobedience, and whatever has afflicted you from illnesses and the removal of blessings, this is because of your sins. Saying that, it is still from Allāh because it is He who decreed it.

So it is not solely from you, but rather Allāh decreed it, and Allah decrees good and evil.

باسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، أما بعد:

Seeing as only a few days stand between us and Ramdhan and most have suggested we delay Madina Book 2 till after Ramadhan, I've decided to take this opportunity to start a new series; Al-Fiqh Al-Muyassar (Fiqh Simplified).

I consulted our Sheikh, Abu Musa (Abdullah Hableel) hafidhahulah before commencing, as I was in two minds, but he encouraged to go through this particular book. The Sheikh, who himself has taught this book, said it is generally a good book, as it gives a concise overview of Fiqhi matters which every Muslim should be acquainted with. The book is well organised, simple to understand, it doesn't go into differences of opinion, and was compiled and verified by a number of scholars & professors working with the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

We will be reading from the second edition which is published by Dar Al-'Alamiyyah. I mention this because it is very likely that you will come across newer editions of the book, so if you do purchase a newer edition, please note there may be slight differences.

OBJECTIVES:

There are 2 main objectives behind this course:

The first: to gain a fundamental understanding of the topics covered in Fiqh

Secondly: to build a direct connection to Arabic books. We are all on a journey to learn Arabic, and somewhere within that journey we need to transition from relying solely on translations to being able to pick up Arabic books and read them independently. The hope is to learn new vocabulary, or at least gain some confidence in reading an Arabic book.

METHODOLOGY:

- I will read the text in Arabic and translate in English

- I will give a brief explanation of whatever requires explaining

- I will create short digestible video clips and upload them onto the following playlist:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLILZM7Z8mbfA09Bl1AGm2vl-RLAs4J8hC

- I will mention the relevant corrections cited by Sheikh Abu Musa Abdullah Hableel in his 'Mukhtasar At-Te'leeq Al-Muharrar 'ala kitab Al-Fiqh Al-Muyassar' (see hyperlink)

- Rather than start from the beginning of the book, I will jump straight into Chapter 4; Kitab As-Siyam, hoping that we can complete it in time for Ramdhan. After that, we will continue with chapter five; Kitab Al-Hajj, and try and complete it before Hajj إن شاء الله

I ask Allah to make this work sincerely for Him alone, just as I ask Him to make it a source of benefit for Islam and the Muslims

The Path To Reach Allaah Is One, So Seek It & Be Careful Not To Follow Any Other Path

"And verily, this (i.e. Allaah's Commandments mentioned in the above two Verses 151 and 152) is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2)."

[Al-Quraan 6:153]

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, mentioned in explanation of this Verse:

"This is because the path to reach Allaah is one and it is the way that His Messenger was sent with and the path that He revealed His Books with, and none is able to reach Him except by this path. Even if a person tried to reach Him by all paths and try to open all doors, they will find that the paths are blocked and the doors are closed except the one path which is connected to Allaah and reaches Him."
