💯 Miscellaneous benefits from Yemen

BENEFIT 47: WE CAN ALL SPREAD BENEFICIAL KNOWLEDGE❗️

We live in times of extreme ignorance and fitan. The callers to evil & corruption are stubbornly misguiding the masses, utilising every means in their possession; social media in particular. So, it's upon us Ahlus Sunnah to double our efforts to counter their evil by spreading the truth, especially as we are outnumbered.

Know O Muslim! that spreading beneficial knowledge is one of the greatest obligations.

Sheikh 'Abdul-Laṭīf Āl Ash-Sheikh raḥimahullāh said:
“Spreading (beneficial) knowledge and clarifying the Sunnah are among the greatest duties and the best acts of obedience.”
📕Majmū' Ar-Rasā'il An-Najdiyyah

The spread of social media and its easy accessibility provides an excellent opportunity to spread beneficial knowledge and warn against falsehood.

Sheikh Fawzān ḥafidhahullāh said:
“Social media is an opportunity for you. Take advantage of it, and do not leave it to the wicked and those who advocate misguidance.”
📕 Lecture entitled, 'Ahammiyyatul Aqeedah As-Saheehah' (23/7/1437)

In order to motivate yourself in this task, O you who seeks to spread beneficial knowledge, it is important that you are aware of the merits of spreading beneficial knowledge, and the great reward, high ranks, and lofty stations Allāh has prepared for those who do so.

Here are some of the virtues of spreading beneficial knowledge:

1️⃣- The one who spreads beneficial knowledge receives the same reward as those who implement that knowledge

2⃣- Spreading beneficial knowledge adds to the reward of the Prophet ﷺ as well as the Salaf; as they are credited every time you spread this knowledge, because they transmitted it to us.

Al-Munāwi raḥimahullāh said:
“The more the successors increase in good, the reward of the predecessors increases and multiplies. Whoever contemplates this meaning and is blessed with success, his determination to teach and desire to spread knowledge, in order to multiply his reward in this life and after his death, will always be increased, and he will refrain from innovations, acts of oppression...for sins are multiplied in the same manner as long as someone continues to carry it out (the wrongdoing that he taught others). So let the Muslim reflect over this meaning; the happiness of the one who directs others to good, and misery of the one who indicates others to evil.”
📕 Fayḍhul Qadīr

3⃣- The one who spreads beneficial knowledge is busied with good, for certainly, if the soul is not busied with the truth, it will busy you with falsehood; as Ibnul Qayyim mentioned in Al-Wābil As-Sayyib.

4⃣- The reward for those who spread beneficial knowledge continues even when they fall sick or travel.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When the servant falls ill or on a journey, he is credited with the equal of whatever good works he used to do when he was healthy or at home.”
📕 [Bukhāri]

And this hadeeth is general!

5⃣- Those who spread beneficial knowledge are following the example of the Prophet ﷺ:

Allāh Almighty said:
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “This is my way. I invite to Allah with insight—I and those who follow me. Glory be to Allah, and I am not one of the polytheists.”
📕[Sūrah Yūsuf 108]

6⃣- Spreading beneficial knowledge increases one's knowledge.

Sheikh 'Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh said: “Spreading knowledge and teaching it is a means to increase it; so the knowledge of the scholar increases if he teaches the people; because by this he reviews what he already knows and it enables him to learn more, just as the poet said:
It (knowledge) increases the more you spend
And it decreases if you hold onto it with a tight fist

📕Majmū' fatāwa ibn 'Uthaymīn

7⃣- Spreading beneficial knowledge is a means of preserving the Sharī'ah.
Forwarded from Madrasatuna || مدرستنا
Sheikh 'Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh said:
“Among the blessings of spreading knowledge and teaching it is that this preserves Allah's laws and protects it, because without knowledge the Shariah would not be preserved.”
📕Majmū fatāwa ibn Uthaymīn

8⃣- The one who spreads beneficial knowledge is similar to a Mujāhid in Allāh's cause

Sheikh Uthaymīn raḥimhullāh said:
“By spreading beneficial knowledge you are spreading the religion of Allāh the Almighty. You will be among the Mujahideen in Allah's cause; the mujahid in Allah's cause conquers the country, country by country, so that the religion is spread therein, while you unlock the hearts with knowledge so that the Allah's the Almighty's Laws are spread therein.”
📕Majmū Al-fatāwa ibn Uthaymīn

.......

Some points of advise for those who seek to spread beneficial fiknowledge:

1️⃣- Be sincere! Do it solely for Allāh's sake - not for praise, followers, or for any other worldly benefit

2⃣- Make sure you are spreading BENEFICIAL knowledge, and that is by checking the authenticity of what you are spreading and taking it from the correct sources

Allāh Almighty said:
{فَسۡـَٔلُوۤا۟ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ}
“Ask those who have knowledge ˹of the Scriptures˺ if you do not know.”
📕[Sūrah An-Naḥl 43]

Muḥammad ibn Sīreen raḥimahullāh said:
”إِنَّ هَذَا الْعِلْمَ دِينٌ، فَانْظُرُوا عَمَّنْ تَأْخُذُونَ دِينَكُمْ.“
“This knowledge is (a matter of) Deen, so look to whom you take your Deen from.”
📕Muqaddimat Sahih Muslim

Sheikh Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh said, commenting on the above statement:
“And this is true, because knowledge is a matter of Deen, and if that's the case, a person must be careful and see who he takes his Deen from; is he trustworthy or not? Is he reliable or not?
📕 His commentary on Sahih Muslim

3⃣- You should encourage others to spread beneficial knowledge and direct them towards good so you can be credited for the knowledge they spread

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Among the actions and good deeds for which a believer will continue to receive reward after his death are knowledge which he taught and spread, a good son whom he left behind, or a copy of the Qur'an which he left as a legacy, or a mosque which he built, or a house which he built for the traveller, or a stream which he caused to flow, or a sadaqa which he gave from his property when he was alive and well, for which he will continue to receive reward after his death.”

📕Reported by Ibn Mājah (with a sound chain), Al-Bayhaqi, and Ibn Khuzaymah reported it in his saheeh with a similar wording. Declared hassan by Sheikh Albani rahimahullah in saheeh at-targhib wat tarheeb

4⃣- Concentrate on spreading that which the people are most in need of

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Mu'adh towards Yemen (as governor) he said to him:
“Verily you would reach a community of the people of the Book, the very first thing to which you should call them is the worship of Allah, may His Glory be Magnificent, and when they become fully aware of Allah, instruct them that He has enjoined five prayers on them during the day and the night, and when they begin observing it, then instruct them that verily Allah has made Zakat obligatory for them which would be collected from the wealthy amongst them and distributed to their needy ones...”
📕[Bukhāri & Muslim]

5⃣- Communicate the message according to people's level of understanding, utilising wisdom and good preaching

Allāh Almighty said:
{ٱدۡعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِیلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ وَٱلۡمَوۡعِظَةِ ٱلۡحَسَنَةِۖ وَجَـٰدِلۡهُم بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُۚ}
“Invite ˹all˺ to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and kind advice, and only debate with them in the best manner.”
[Surah An-Nahl 125]

6⃣- Don't limit your audience by putting a price on your knowledge
Forwarded from Madrasatuna || مدرستنا
Let's follow the best of role models, the example set by the Prophets & Messengers, who would say to their people:
{یَـٰقَوۡمِ لَاۤ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مَالًاۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ}
“O my people! I do not ask you for a payment for this ˹message˺. My reward is only from Allah.”
[Surah Hud 29]

7⃣- Practice what you preach. Sometimes your actions speak louder than your words...

Allah Almighty said:
(یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا تَفۡعَلُونَ}
“O believers! Why do you say what you do not do?”
[Surah As-Saf 2]

8⃣- Deliver your message at the right times

Sheikh Uthaymīn rahimahullah said:
“If you see this scholar who loves to spread knowledge giving talks everywhere, yet the people find it unbearable and they say, this is too much, everytime we sit, he gets up and delivers a talk, then it is from advice to this scholar to advise him not to speak except in what is appropriate for the situation, and do not say, if I said that I have prevented him from spreading knowledge, rather, this is from preservation of knowledge, because if people are bored, they will get tired of the scholar and his talk.”
📕 His explanation of Arba3een An-Nawawiyyah

9⃣- Utilise every means possible to spread this knowledge

Sheikh Uthaymīn rahimahullah said:
“...be keen to spread beneficial knowledge through all means, whether through newspapers, magazines, books, media, pamphlets, etc.”
📕Majmoo Al-Fataawa

finally, remember the statement of Ibnul Jawzi raḥimahullāh:

"مَن أَحَبَّ ألَّا يَنقَطِع عَمَلُهُ بَعدَ مَوتِه فَليَنشُر العِلم".
“Whoever wants his deeds to continue after his death, let him spread beneficial knowledge.”
📕At-Tadhkirah libnil Jawzi 1/55

A book in English that I highly recommend to those who are able to get it or the pdf. I'm unaware of the condition of a couple of the scholars mentioned at the bottom, but those that are known are known. You could do some research and find the condition of those you're unaware of inshaallaah.

It also has a revision section at the back of the book alhamdulillaah.
Scholarly hack:

Keep a book by your pillow and read a few pages of it every night before you go to sleep

You'll finish many books without paying attention to that fact in-shaa'allaah.

(a good piece of advice given to me by a very hardworking student of knowledge, allaahumma baarik).
Last hour of asr on Jumu'ah in the uk right now. A time when the Du'aa is accepted. Wallaahu alam.

Arabic Is The Chosen Language By Allaah, Therefore We Should Desire And Strive To Learn It

Abuu ʿAbdillaah Muhammad Ibn Idrees Ash-Shaafi’ee, may Allaah have mercy upon him said,

“The language that Allaah favoured/chose was Arabic. He revealed His glorious Book [The Quraan] in this language and He made it to be the language of His final and last prophet, Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. Therefore, we say: everyone who has the ability to learn this language should do so, because it is the most desired language [one should learn due to the Quraan and the Sunnah being revealed in it].”

🎉 *Ruling on Joining Celebrations of Disbelievers like Christmas or Halloween and Congratulating Them on Those Occasions* 🎊

It is not permissible to join the Christians in their celebration even if those who claim knowledge join them, because this increases their numbers and is a kind of support to them in sin and transgression.
Allah (Exalted be He) says (what means):

*وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِۚ*

"Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwâ (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression." [Al-Ma'idah, 5:2]

Ash-Shaykh al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“Congratulating the kufaar for the holiday of Christmas or other than it of their holidays is haraam based upon the consensus of the scholars, as has been quoted by Ibnul Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, in the book ‘Ahkaam Ahlil Dhimmah’,…it is as if he is congratulating him for his prostration to the cross…”

Ash-Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him said:

“…The Christians innovated this birthday and other than it into their religion, while the Prophet Esaa, alayhi as-salaam, did not legislate for them to celebrate his birthday rather they just merely innovated it…”

A Reply to a Doubt

There are some who claim that if the Christians congratulate the Muslims for their Islamic celebrations then it is upon the Muslims to congratulate them back during their celebrations, which is totally wrong and incorrect because congratulating them upon that is actually congratulating them upon their falsehood, rather Islam calls to opposing the kufaar in that.

A Side Benefit:

Ash-Shaykh Yahya al-Hajooree, may Allah preserve him, said:

“For the Nasaara (i.e. the Christians) is their own calendar; called the christian calendar (i.e. the western calendar), they began the year upon the birthday of the Prophet Esaa, as they claim and they refer to it as the Christian year, while the Persians have their own calendar (i.e. the Jalaali Calendar) and the Roman have their own calendar (i.e. the Julian calendar)…”
