Question:
WHAT MONTH ARE WE IN?

Answer:
DHUL QI‘DAH.

Tayyib, so what's the big deal?

The big deal is, Allāh ﷻ said:

(إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ اللهِ ٱثۡنَا عَشَرَ شَهۡرࣰا فِی كِتَـٰبِ اللهِ یَوۡمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۡهَاۤ أَرۡبَعَةٌ حُرُمࣱۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلدِّینُ ٱلۡقَیِّمُۚ فَلَا تَظۡلِمُوا۟ فِیهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمۡ...}

“Indeed, the number of months ordained by Allah is twelve—in Allah’s Record since the day He created the heavens and the earth—OF WHICH FOUR ARE SACRED. That is the Right Way. So do not wrong one another during these months.
[Sūrah At-Tawbah 36]

The 12 months are:
1. Muḥarram (مُحَرَّم)
2. Ṣafar (صَفَر)
3. Rabī‘ Al-Awwal (ُرَبِيعُ ٱلْأَوَّل)
4. Rabī‘ Ath-Thānī (رَبِيعُ الثَّانِي)
5. Jumāda Al-Awwal (جُمَادَى الْأَوَّلُ)
6. Jumāda Ath-Thānī (جُمَادَى الثَّانِي)
7. Rajab (رَجَب)
8. Sha‘bān (شَعْبَان)
9. Ramḍhān (رَمَضَان)
10. Shawwāl (شَوَّال)
11. Dhul Qi‘dah (ذُو الْقِعْدَة)
12. Dhul. Ḥijjah (ذُو الْحِجَّة)

The four sacred months are:
1️⃣ Muḥarram
2️⃣ Rajab
3⃣ Dhul Qi‘dah
4️⃣ Dhul Ḥijjah

We're currently in the sacred month of Dhul qi'dah yet many of us are clueless.

Ibn ‘Abbās raḍhiyallāhu ‘anhu said: “He (ﷻ) singled out four months from them and made them sacred. He magnified their sanctity and made sins in them more severe and righteous deeds and the reward for them greater.” [Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr]

So beware of wronging one another during these coming months!

The man should strive in teaching his family the religion◾️

Answered by Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Ibn Hussain Al-Masqarī - May Allāh preserve him

📩 Question:

I'm a women who embraced Islam and before I got married I wasn't able to learn well. My husband is capable of teaching me however most of his time is used for teaching in the Markaz and so he doesn't find time for me; is it not upon the person to give importance to his family and teach them?

📝 Answer:

Indeed, it's obligatory for the husband to give importance to his family, so he should find time to teach them and if not then he should allow them to learn with upright sisters; and Allāh is the One who grants success.

Thinking about the good parts of a bad situation (part 2)...

For some reason, many of you were thinking about polygyny (ههه); a plausible option, but the correct answer to yesterday's quiz is as follows:

On the 2nd of Muḥarram 1442H. (21/08/20) my youngest son Is-ḥāq was born - may Allāh preserve him & the rest of his siblings, and five months prior, on the 1st of Sha‘bān 1441H. (25/03/20), another offspring was born...

That offspring is highlighted in the following benefit...

Ibn Al-Jawzi - raḥimahullāh - said in Sayyidul Khāṭir P. 21, Chapter: Preserving time:

“If a person knows, even if he is seriously hardworking (in terms of good deeds), that death will eventually overtake him and prevent him from doing any more deeds, he will strive his utmost to carry out deeds during his lifetime whose rewards will last long after his death...”

He mentioned examples of such deeds and then went on to echoe the famous words of Ibn Al-Mu‘tazz (D. 296H):

((علم الإنسان ولده المخلد))

“A person's knowledge is his immortal offspring.”

That is because, a person's physical offspring remains in this Dunya a short term and then departs, whereas his knowledge (also an offspring - although not a physical one) lives on after his death for decades - if not centuries.

This brings us to the topic at hand; thinking about the good parts of a bad situation. One of the blessings from this pandemic was the birth of this knowledge based platform (Madrasatuna), which was born on the 1st of Sha‘bān 1441H (25/03/20).

I praise Allāh for guiding me to this initiative, through which - and all praises belong to Allāh - I have been able to reach thousands of English speakers across the globe.

Ash Sheikh Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) said,

“As for the people today being lenient towards the issue of picture taking, they have filled the world with pictures. تجد أحدهم تحبسه الحاجة الدنيوية ساعة أو ساعتين أو أكثر من ذلك، ولو كانت قليلة وزهيدة،

You will find that one of them will be occupied by a worldly need and it may hold him back for an hour or two or even more than that, even if it be small or worthless.

ولا يستطيع أن يصبر عُشْر هذا الزمن للصلاة المكتوبة، الصلاة عنده أثقل من الجبال،

And he isn’t able to be patient for a tenth of this time for the prescribed prayer. The prayer to him is heavier than the mountains.

وتنعيم بدنه واتباع لذاته عنده هو رأس المال، فما أعظم خسارته، وما أطول ندمه عند أخذ الكتب باليمين

The comfort of his body and following its pleasures to him is the capital, thus how great is his loss and how long his regret will be when taking the books with either the right or left (hand).

"This is a warning of punishment for something many people consider trivial..."

Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-'Uthaymeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"And lying is from the impermissible affairs, rather some scholars stated: lying is a major sin because the Prophet ﷺ forewarned the liar he is eventually recorded as a liar with Allaah.

Among the most outrageous form of lying is what some people commit nowadays; telling a lie deliberately for nothing but to make people laugh. There is a Hadeeth that warns against this type of lying. The Prophet ﷺ said:

وَيْلٌ لِلَّذِي يُحَدِّثُ فَيَكْذِبُ لِيُضْحِكَ بِهِ الْقَوْمَ وَيْلٌ لَهُ وَيْلٌ لَهُ.

Woe to the one who speaks and lies in order to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him!

(Sunan Abee Daawud, No. 4990. Graded 'hasan' by Shaykh Al-Albaanee, may Allaah have mercy upon him)

This is a warning of punishment for something many people consider trivial. Hence, all forms of lying are forbidden and all of them cause disobedience with no exceptions. However, there is a Hadeeth that excludes three forms of lying; in war, reconciling between people, and communication between married couples (see Saheeh Muslim, No. 2605)."

Advice to our Salafi brothers and sisters to keep firm◾️

Our Shaykh, Al Hāfidh, Abū 'Amr 'Abdulkareem Al-Hajoori - may Allah preserve him - was asked:

📩 Question:

We seek advice for a salafi women. Her family members wish that she leaves her Istiqāmā (steadfastness/uprightness/salafiyyah). So what do you advise?

📝 Answer:

It is not permissible for her to obey them in this desire of theirs. Obedience is only in righteousness.

As the Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned in the hadīth of Alī (may Allah be pleased with him):

(Obediance is required only in what is good)

Allāh (ﷻ) said:

[But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly]
(31:15)

So companionship with ones parents is in righteousness, and obediance to them is in that which is good, and kindness to them in other than the disobedience of Allah.

So it is upon us to be steadfast.

[Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained]
(74:38)

Every individual will be held accountable for their actions by oneself (a day when there is no interpreter between a person and Allāh). So it is not permissible to obey them in the disobediance of Allāh.
