If you're finding it difficult to leave off haram, I sincerely advise you to supplicate to Allāh using this short & beautiful du‘ā :
اللّهُـمَّ اكْفِـني بِحَلالِـكَ عَنْ حَـرامِـكَ
Allaahumma-k-finee bihalaalika ‘an haraamika
O Allāh, suffice me with what You have made Halal over what You have made Haram
wa aghninee bifaḍhlika ‘amman siwaaka
and make me independent of all others besides You.
Make sure to say it with an attentive heart, placing full trust in Allāh and insha Allah you will see how easy everything will become.
‘Ali raḍhiyallāhu ‘anhu narrated that:
A Mukātab (a slave who has agreed to buy himself out of slavery) came to him and said: “Indeed I am unable to pay off my contract of manumission, so help me.” He said: “Should I not teach you words that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) taught me? If you had a debt upon you similar to the mountain of Seer, Allāh would fulfill it for you. He said: ‘Say... (and he went on to teach him the above supplication)

IT'S PARENT'S DAY TODAY!
Actually, it's parent's day evedyday (if your parents are still alive)!
So seeing as we're all agreed that it's parent's day today, I'd like to remind you of this important advice:
❝When you are distressed, your parents -mothers especially- also become distressed. Perhaps they feel the pain more than you. For that reason, I recommend you avoid complaining about your problems to parents wherever possible. If you feel sick, distressed, anxious, etc., try and put on a brave face infront of them so they don't have to share in the suffering. If you can't make your parents happy, the least you can do is avoid bringing them grief. Complain to The Almighty and let your parents live in peace.❞
_________
It's reported that one of the tābi‘īn fell ill, so when his mother came to visit him he got dressed and made himself look well, as though there was nothing wrong with him, then as soon as she left, he fell unconscious. So it was said to him, nothing was wrong with you when your mother was present, so what's wrong with you now? He responded:
“The children's groans is torture for the parent's hearts.”
____________
Finally, Sheikh Uthaymīn (may Allāh have mercy on him) said: "Supplicating for your parents during the Tarawīḥ or Tahajjud prayer is better than slaughtering ten camels on their behalf."
[Al-Liqā Al-bāb Al-Maftūḥ (115)]

📝 Word of the day (13):
أَوْلَوِيَّةٌ | .pl أَوْلَوِيَّاتٌ
priority
Example sentence:
Rethink/re-evaluate your priorities.
_______________
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The 2 voluntary units of Fajr are better than the Dunya and everything inside it.”
[Muslim]
Upon reading this hadith you would be on the assumption that these two rak‘ahs are long and tiresome. On the contrary, Ā'ishah may Allāh be pleased with her says:
يُصَلِّي رَكعتَي الفَجْرِ، إِذَا سمِعَ الأَذَانَ فَيُخَفِّفُهمَا حَتَّى أَقُولَ: هَل قرَأَ فِيهما بِأُمِّ القُرْآنِ؟
“He (ﷺ) would offer the 2 voluntary units of Fajr after hearing the adhān, and he would shorten them so much that I would ask myself: did he even recite Fātiha?”
[Bukhāri & Muslim]
If this is the virtue & excellence of these 2 short voluntary prayers, what then of standing for long periods in order to offer the night prayers?
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer.”
[Muslim]
This basically means that the night prayer, 1 rak'ah being the minimum, is better than the 2 voluntary units of Fajr.
This hadith also means that the obligatory prayers are better than the 2 voluntary units of Fajr as well as the night prayers.
The point I'm trying to get to is, many people have their priorities muddled up. It's so messed up that a man will pray Isha at home but make sure to be in the front row for taraaweeh. Also, some prioritise tahajjud -especially during the last 10- over Fajr congregation, to the extent that they feel so tired and lazy after tahajjud that they sleep past Fajr.
Be mindful of this and:
رَتِّبْ أَوْلَوِيَّاتِك!
Sort out your priorities!

What Surah did the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم read, that when the people heard it, they went into Sujood, even the Mushrikeen (Disbelievers) and the Jinn?
A. B. C.
A. B. C.
Ibn ‘Abbas said that the Prophet prostrated himself when an-Najm (Al-Qur'an; 53) was revealed, and the Muslims, the polytheists, jinn and men prostrated themselves along with him.
When the Prophet ﷺ read: (So prostrate to Allah and worship Him) [Al-Najm: 62] He prostrated, so did everyone.
And it is said the reason why the polytheists prostrated even though they did not believe in the Qur’an: is that the Mushrikeen could not hold themselves back from going down in prostration to Allah when they felt that the majesty of the words of Allah. It was as if the Qur’an, took control of their minds and hearts. Also it is said that they were afraid of the punishment mentioned in the verses coming down on them if they didn't prostrate. SubhanAllah!
The Hadeeth can be found in Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree inshaallaah.

(al-Ḥāfidh) al-ʿIrāqī said in Sharḥ Muqadimmah Ibn Ṣalāh: it was narrated to us on the authority of Muʿwamal that he said: “A Shaykh narrated a ḥadīth to me on the virtues of the Qurʾān, chapter by chapter.”
So I asked him: “Who narrated this ḥadīth to you?”
He said: “A man in Madāʿin narrated it to me, he is alive.”
I traveled to him and asked him: “Who narrated this ḥadīth to you?”
He said: “A Shaykh in Wāsiṭ narrated it to me, he is alive.”
So I travelled to him, he said: “A Shaykh in Baṣrah narrated it to me.”
So I travelled to him, he said: “A Shaykh in Baʿbādān narrated it to me.”
So I travelled to him, he took me by the hand into a house, a group of Ṣūfīs were in it, with them was a Shaykh, he (ie: the person who took my hand) said: “It is this Shaykh that narrated it to me.”
I said: “O Shaykh, who narrated this ḥadīth to you?”
He responded: “Nobody narrated it to me, but I saw that the people were not interested in the Qurʾān, so I fabricated these aḥadīth for them so that it may turn their hearts to the Qurʾān!”
This man (ie: the traveler) must have travelled for about three months in order to verify this one ḥadīth.

In which Surah was the first Sajdah revealed in the Qur'an?
Narrated `Abdullah Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him):
The first Surah in which a prostration was mentioned, was Sura An-Najm (The Star). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prostrated (while reciting it), and everybody behind him prostrated except a man whom I saw taking a hand-full of dust in his hand and prostrated on it. Later I saw that man killed as an infidel, and he was Umaiya bin Khalaf.
