The Ruling on Video Calling

Question: What is the ruling on speaking on the internet through video where each person sees the picture of the other? Does this fall into picture making?

Answer: “If the picture appears inside the device and produces a result similar to a picture, then yes. In most cases it is. Otherwise, what is it that transmits your picture to him and his picture to you? You rely on a camera which takes your picture to him and his picture to you. And this is not a type of mirror, for example, from here to a country 1000 kilometers away. It is not a mirror. It is relying on a camera taking a picture. Therefore it is picture-making if it uses a camera”

الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله و على آله و صحبه أجمعين

We are excited to announce that by the permission of Allaah, the Most Generous, we will be attempting to memorise 109 of His Beautiful Names this Ramadhaan on the Fruits Of Knowledge telegram channel (link below). This will begin on the first night of Ramadhaan inshaallaah. We will try to send on average four Names daily (this will reduce towards the end of the blessed month). After every 3 posts (containing the Beautiful Names) we will try to do a quiz where you are to answer from your memory. The quiz is completely anonymous (even the administrator doesn't see who is answering). The aim of this is not to just memorise the Beautiful Names. The aim is to implement them in our lives when making Du'aa etc.

These Names are taken from 'Al-Mabaadi Al-Mufeedah of Shaykh Yahyaa Al-Hajuuree, Pgs. 37-51' and have been translated by Faisal bin Abdul Qaadir bin Hassan Abu Sulaymaan. May Allaah, Ash-Shakuur (the Most Ready to appreciate and reward), accept from the Shaykh, the translator, and all those involved. May He, Al-Musta'aan (The One From Whom Help is Sought), bless us with the sincerity and success to complete this for His Sake Alone and to make this a means to draw closer to Him, Subhaanah. We thank Allaah, the Most Generous, for this amazing opportunity and for His countless blessings upon us.

▪️If a person swallows the crumbs left in his mouth during prayer, will his prayer become invalidated?▪️

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:

📩 Question:
 
If a person chews or swallows the crumbs left inside his mouth or he is busied with that inside the prayer, will this invalidate his prayer?

📝 Answer:

The crumbs that remain inside the mouth invalidate the prayer. If he feels it (and has the ability to resist swallowing it), it's not permissible for him to swallow it. It not only invalidates the prayer, but also invalidates his fast.

And if he can't feel it; in that it's mixed in with his saliva, then Allah does not burden a soul with more than it can bear. In this case, it doesn't invalidate his prayer (or his fast), and he doesn't have to examine his saliva by pushing it against his teeth to see if he can taste something or not. [After eating,] he has to rinse his mouth (properly), he doesn't have to do anything else after that. However, if he then feels some big crumbs, it's not permissible for him to swallow it, and if he doesn't feel anything, there's nothing upon him.

The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, used to say:

"اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لاَ يَنْفَعُ وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لاَ يَخْشَعُ وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لاَ تَشْبَعُ وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لاَ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا."‏

Oh Allaah, I seek refuge in you from knowledge which doesn't benefit, a heart which does not fear, a soul which is never satisfied and a supplication which isn't answered.

[Saheeh Muslim, No. 2722]
