Free mixing is Haraam

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam - may Allaah preserve him - was asked the following question:

📩 Question:

What is the ruling on studying in free mixed institutes, whether at primary, nursery, secondary or university level?

📝 Answer:

It is not permissible to mix girls with boys, even at a young age, because it may be that some of them have mature earlier than others such that they begin to feel affection towards the opposite sex. Thus free mixing is impermissible at every level; at primary, nursery, aswell as university - all of it is impermissible, and we have clarified in a previous sitting the many evidences on the prohibition of men free-mixing with women.

Ruling on women performing Adhan & Iqaamah

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam - may Allaah preserve him - was asked the following question:

📩 Question:

Should a woman perform Iqaamah for Salaah, or should she pray without making the Iqaamah?

📝 Answer:

It is recommended for her to make Iqaamah (before offering the obligatory prayers), but it’s not something obligatory upon her, because the Prophet ﷺ didn't instruct women to make Iqaamah before offering Salaah in their homes. Nonetheless, it is a form of remembrance (Dhikr) of Allah, as comes from ibn ‘Umar and Anas; that they said it’s a form of Dhikr (remembrance) of Allah. So there’s no harm if they do the Iqaamah.

And the same applies with doing the Athaan; if she is distant from the Masjid such that she cannot hear the Athaan, then there’s no harm in her doing the Athaan for herself at home, but if she is close to the Masjid where she is able to hear the Athaan, then this Athaan is sufficient for her and she should only make Iqaamah for herself.

▪️There's no such thing as bachelorism in Jannah▪️

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:

 📩 Question:

The questioner says: with regards to single women who die without being married, will they have a husband in the Hereafter?

📝 Answer:

Of course, without a shadow of a doubt; "there's no bachelorism in Jannah", as the Prophet ﷺ said in the Hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah -may Allah be pleased with him- reported by Muslim.

So there is no doubt that she will be married in the Hereafter to whomsoever Allaah wishes for her to be married to from the inhabitants of Jannah. In the same way, single men who die prior to marriage; and they are many in number, will also have partners in the Hereafter. In fact, even married men will have extra wives, as there will be no limit in the Hereafter to how many wives a man can have; Allaah will honour whomsoever He pleases with however many wives He pleases.

Thu 6 Dhul Qidah 1436AH CORRESPONDING TO Aug 20 2015

Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen rahimahullah was asked:

Question:

How true is what is said: that the one who dies in Ramadan or on the day of Jummah will not be punished with the punishment of the grave?

Answer:

The punishment in the grave is established for everyone who deserves it whether they died on Jummah or Ramadan or in another time. So like this, the Muslims say in their prayer, in every prayer of their prayers, in the last Tashahud: I seek refugee in Allah from the punishment of the Hell-fire, from the punishment of the grave, from the trails of life and death and from the trial of the Anti-Christ. Except for one who dies struggling in Allah’s path, then the two Angels who ask about a person’s religion, Lord, and Prophet do not come to him. This is because the flashing of the sword over his head is a greater test for him and an evidence that he is a believer. Otherwise, he would not expose his neck to the enemies of Allah”

Causes Of A Hard Heart

Al-'Allaamah Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-'Uthaymeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"Causes of a hard heart include: turning away from Allaah, the Glorified and Exalted, not reading Quraan; being preoccupied with this world and focusing mostly on it, not paying attention to matters of religion, because obeying Allaah, the Exalted, makes the heart soft and brings one back to Allaah, the Blessed and Exalted.

The remedy for that is to turn to Allaah, repent to Him, remember Him a great deal, read the Quraan a great deal, and do acts of worship, as much as one can."

Well-Being And Wretchedness Are A Test And Trial From Allaah

Al-'Allaamah Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him:

"From the signs of well-being and success is that whenever the slave is increased in his knowledge, he increases in humility and mercy; and whenever he is increased in action, he increases in his fear and caution; and whenever his age is increased, he decreases in eagerness; and whenever he is increased in wealth, he increases in his generosity and spending; and whenever his status and honour is increased, he increases in coming close to the people, in fulfilling their needs and being humble in (their presence).

And the signs of wretchedness are: Whenever he is increased in knowledge, he increases in pride and haughtiness; and whenever he is increased in actions, he increases in his boasting and mockery of the people and having a good opinion of himself; and whenever his age is increased, he increases in eagerness, and whenever he is increased in his status and honour, he increases in pride and haughtiness.

These affairs of (well-being and wretchedness) are a trial and a test from Allaah, by which He puts His slaves to trial. He brings about well-being by way of them to people, and wretchedness by way of them to people."

▪️Ruling on Video Calling▪️

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:

 📩 Question:

What is the ruling of video calling?

📝 Answer:

Once an image has been captured or stored it becomes haram.

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated:

'The most severely punished people on the day of resurrection will be those who make images' (Narrated by Ibn Masoud in Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

'It will be made for every image maker in the Hell-Fire the image of every living being they made in order to be punished by it.' (Narrated Ibn Abbas in Muslim).

'Indeed, the companions (makers) of these images will be punished on The Day of Resurrection. It will be said to them: 'Give life to that which you have created'.

Thus, if an image (containing living beings) is captured, it is certainly haram. If it is not captured then this is a doubtful matter that may still enter into the aforementioned hadith. The Muslim is therefore advised to refrain from this.

However, we do not say this is haram with complete certainty because of its resemblance to a mirror; meaning that the device simply reflects that which is infront of it. Thus, if it is directed away from the individual infront of it, there is no picture.

Notwithstanding, The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said 'Leave what brings you doubt in place of what does not bring you doubt. (Narrated by Hasan Ibn Ali in At-Tirmidi) and 'Whoever avoids doubtful matters has preserved his religion and his honour'. (Narrated by Nouman Ibn Bashir in Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

■ Shaking Hands with Women Outside Your Immediate Family ■

📩 Question:

What is the ruling on a male shaking the hands of his female cousins and sisters-in-law?

📝 Answer:

This is from the actions that are forbidden within the religion.

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'If one of you were to be impaled by an iron rod being placed through his head, this would be better for him than to touch a woman that is unlawful for him to touch. (Narrated by Ma'qil Ibn Yasaar in At-Tabaraani).

Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) also stated: 'The hand of The Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never touched the hand of another woman (unlawful to him). And when the women would pledge allegiance to him, he would accept their pledge verbally; saying 'You may depart, for I have certainly ratified your pledges'. Nay - I swear by Allah the hand of The Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not touch the hand of a woman (unlawful to him) - ever'. This narration is in Al-Bukhari and Muslim. It was also narrated with similar wording by Umeemah Bint Raqeeqa in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad.

Bear in mind the fact that he (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a father-figure to his nation and despite this, he did not touch a single woman (unlawful to him).

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'I warn you against entering female (gatherings)'. A man from The Ansar said: 'Oh Messenger of Allah, how about the in laws?'. He replied (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): 'The in law is death'.

Therefore, if entering a gathering of female cousins, sisters-in-law and uncle's wives etc. is a sin, what about shaking their hands?

Surely, that is much worse.
